I got a phone call from the owner of the quilt shop where I live & she wants me to work for her starting this Monday using her long arm!!!! Can I tell everyone how excited I am? Well, I'm VERY excited. Just what I've been wanting to do.

Chickerson 04-08-2011 03:50 AM

Awesome! Congrats! Have fun but don't spend your entire paycheck on fabric - lol.

redturtle 04-08-2011 03:51 AM

o how jealous am i!!!

lucky lucky you...

let us know how your first day goes

karenpatrick 04-08-2011 04:00 AM

Oh you lucky girl! Many years ago I worked part time at Montgomery Ward in the fabirc dept. I used to make all my clothes as I am very short. I always spent my whole check on fabric. So don't so what I did, unless you just can't help yourself!!

luvTooQuilt 04-08-2011 04:04 AM

Just remember.... It's for fun, it's not a job. Hate to see you get burned out working on others quilts.

Btw: have I told you how jealous I am?!?!???

Favorite Fabrics 04-08-2011 04:29 AM

Congratulations! Will you be able to stand the temptation? If not... will you at least get a discount on your purchases?

Justquilting 04-08-2011 04:30 AM

Congratulations!!!

Murphy 04-08-2011 04:46 AM

Congratulations. This should be a lot of fun (and work). Enjoy and learn, learn, learn, and teach, teach, teach.

bamamama 04-08-2011 04:47 AM

Congratulations! Sounds like my dream job!

scrapykate 04-08-2011 05:08 AM

Coley Banicki 04-08-2011 05:20 AM

quiltingaz 04-08-2011 05:27 AM

Wow. I would love to work at a quilt shop. What a great opportunity. But watch out for all the temptations there.

TootieAnn 04-08-2011 05:37 AM

I am so happy for you! I know you will enjoy working there.

stacey65 04-08-2011 05:38 AM

Oh!!! You got my dream job! Lucky you!

sunflower126 04-08-2011 08:07 AM

When my youngest started to school until she graduated I worked at Minnestota Fabrics (now Hancock) We could keep a running tab until payday and then it would be deducted from our pay check. I had to really be careful not to over spend. Lots of wonderful benefits: made model garments for the store and then they became ours, great discounts. Even made her prom gowns as model garments. Great savings.
Wish we still had one in our area. I used to drive an hour away to one in Ohio (Hancock) but that has since closed too.

amma 04-08-2011 09:08 AM

Congratulations!! Talk about a dream job :D:D:D

jdiane318 04-08-2011 09:14 AM

I always wanted to work at Walmart cutting fabric, then they cut back/out their fabrics. To me, to be able to touch and handle beautiful fabric everyday would be a possible cure to my fabric addiction ------------ NOT.

Scrap Happy 04-09-2011 02:46 AM

Congratulations! It won't be like work at all. I worked at a LQS years ago and it was so much fun.

Buttons922 04-09-2011 02:47 AM

Ok you win. I am extremely jealous! Have fun, enjoy and hope you get to bring your paycheck home. I don't think that I would.

passionforsewing 04-09-2011 03:06 AM

I truly believe that God answers prayers. I have wanted a part time job doing what I love to do for quite some time now and to get to learn how to use a long arm - YES! That's what I will be doing. Please pray that I do well for her.

justlooking 04-09-2011 03:11 AM

Congratulations! That would be my favorite job in a lifetime.

Moonglow 04-09-2011 03:33 AM

Congratulations!

doll-lady 04-09-2011 04:39 AM

that is great. have fun.

sewmom 04-09-2011 04:52 AM

my DH made the comment a couple of months ago "that's what you should do-get a job in a quilt shop a couple days a week" I just looked at him and said-you might want to rethink that statement. and that was that!

Grandma Peg 04-09-2011 05:17 AM

Congrats on your new job. Have fun and try to bring a pay check home!!

Scakes 04-09-2011 05:19 AM

Congratulations on the job! Sounds like fun.

mimee4 04-09-2011 05:22 AM

Oh the ideas - quilt patterns, fabrics, quilting. Have lots of fun.

momoose 04-09-2011 05:35 AM

Congratulaions! I'm so happy for you. Keep us posted on how it works out. lol

quilt3311 04-09-2011 05:57 AM

Congratulations--but remember you will leave most of your pay check right there in the shop. grin. When I worked for a shop years ago, I sometimes ended up owing the shop some $$ at the end of a pay period. grin but oh what fun it was.

sharin'Sharon 04-09-2011 06:54 AM

We all hope our dreams can come true. Maybe you will be busy enough with the LA that you won't have time to check out all those lovely fabrics, and be able to bring home more of the earnings. Good Luck.
