Bummer!!!! I'm working on a couple of baby quilts and had cut and made the binding a couple weeks ago. Well this afternoon I am sewing the binding on quilts 2 and 3 (#1 went off to Washington as a baby gift about a month ago) Anyway, got the binding on the second one and started sewing binding on third and it is not going to make it all the way around.!!! I know I should have measured before I stared sewing, I had even told myself that, but no...... I decided to just sew. I can make it 2/3's around. I'm thinking of stopping at half and then using another fabric to bind the other half. What do you think? I really don't want to have to unsew the half already sewn!!!!
So, it pays to measure first!!!!!

I've done that and it looks fine. I have also used scraps of different lenghts to make the binding.

i would just add on more binding where ever you ran out of binding with another fabric. i most always use different fabrics for my binding.

It would look nice if you could use the binding you have already on the top left and bottom right corners, centering both pieces evenly, and then filling in with a contrasting piece from the body of your quilt. It would look like it was planned that way. Just an idea!

It will look like you planned it that way unless you point it out.

Lol, I've miscalculated before. If you don't have enough scraps to piece together enough for the binding, then I see nothing wrong with continuing in another fabric at a break point, such as a corner. I doubt the child will do much complaining.

The baby just won't care. Don't rip it off, just pick another fabric and continue. Quilt designer privilege.

I try to be as forgiving on myself as possible when I do baby quilts. For some reason the smaller ones never turn out as well as the larger ones. Different colored bindings? Why not?!

you are the only one who will know its not supposed to be that way...

baby sure wont know...

of course we do now that you told us lol
