I've wanted a sewing cabinet forever - currently, I sew on a rather broken table like those you find in church halls, and previously it was the dining table. I've been stalking craigslist, but we're broke, so I didn't even want to spend the $300 people are asking for used cabinets. Well, I found one for $45 - the seller said the lift had stopped working, but maybe could be fixed. Sure enough, DH fixed it, and now I have a lovely sewing cabinet, complete with fully mechanized lift.

Isn't it great when you finally find just what you are looking for and at a great price!

I have the cabinet for my Mom's Bernina in my storage building and have been trying to find a way to bring it inside to use. I have a 6' folding table for my Baby Lock Ellegante and a quilting table I bought for the Ellegante has my Juki in it. I also care for my 16 mo old GGS and he has a play pen that has 8 two foot sections, so it takes up a lot of room. Maybe, if I moved out the love seat and the chairs?

Oklahoma Suzie 04-18-2010 10:26 AM

How wonderful, glad you were able to fix it up. Can't wait for pics.

So glad you got the cabinet you wanted and at that price. Great!!
I've been looking high and low on the internet, too, for a cabinet-so far, too much money and/or shipping is too expensive.

My DH built a beautiful sewing cabinet for me. The hydraulic lift cost about $150! That's great your DH was able to fix it. You got a deal!
