Congratulations on your new machine. Have you gotten your first project lined up yet so you'll be ready? LOL.

NUTMEG10 11-07-2011 04:59 AM

Congratulations.

brushandthimble 11-07-2011 05:19 AM

Congradulations!! Always fun to learn a new machine.
My BL Quest Plus is ready to be picked up from the shop after being sent back to the manufacter. Sure am looking forward to getting reaquainted. (Bought 2 BL Anna'a for DGD Christmas presents).

Arleners 11-07-2011 05:29 AM

Congratulations. I have the Brother, Laura Ashley edition which is very similar. I love it, and I am sure you will love yours too. I think you have that auto needle threader that pops the thread through. I still smile everytime I hear that pop and can just start sewing.

michelehuston 11-07-2011 05:32 AM

Yay!! New toys!! Love it!!

janiesews 11-07-2011 05:39 AM

Congratulations and enjoy. Buying from a show saves money and that is how I got my Bernina Artista years ago. Enjoy and have fun creating.

quiltingaz 11-07-2011 05:39 AM

You will enjoy your machine. There is so much you can do with the new machines. Have fun and congratulations.

Getting a new machine is better than getting a new car. It has more gadgets and whistles. Enjoy! Lol

Melrose R 11-07-2011 06:27 AM

Anna O 11-07-2011 06:30 AM

Abbie Jane 11-07-2011 06:31 AM

Enjoy it! I bought a new machine at a show in Sept. I bought a new 440 Bernina and love it

The brochure calls the BL an advance sewing and quilting machine. It doesn't do embroidery. I'm guessing it is on the higher end side of sewing machines that don't do embroidery.

you are correct. It is considered the high end "sewing only" machine for B/L. I love B/L machines and would never buy anything else but. They are so easy to use - the manuals are easy to understand - and it's good that you'll have a local shop for assistance.

As for the bouncing, other than the improper table, the higher end machines have a bigger motor which means more power.

Enjoy your new baby!!

I had the Quilter's Choice for almost 2 years and was perfectly happy with that one. Then while sewing for Project Linus at our local shop, I used the Esante and fell in love so I upgraded. In hind sight, I wish I would have kept the Quilter's Choice as my backup machine. Then I would have 2 good machines and the feet are interchangable. I have a simple Janome as my backup / class machine but then dealing with different feet, bobbins, etc.

lovedquilts 11-07-2011 09:07 AM

Your going to love her, I have had mine for a little over a year

Fab-ra-holic 11-07-2011 09:22 AM

Congratulations!! I know exactly how you feel. The older machines were very reliable for us, but, the new electronic ones have soooo many fun things to learn and use.

sewloved 11-07-2011 10:08 AM

I might have called the shop this morning, to work out tomorrow's pick up. And the salesman might have let me pick it up this morning. ;)

I just need to finish up lunch for my son, get him napping and then I'm reading the book. Of course, I know that 5 minutes into reading the manual the anticipation is going to get to me and I'm going to unpack the machine. LOL!

As for projects, I'm never in short supply of those. I always have at least 5 lined up. I'm a young quilter and probably already have more projects that I can complete in my lifetime. I am currently in the middle of an apron I'm making for my mother-in-law. Since I have the new machine, I'll probably finish it up with some decorative stitches.

I have a project that I've been saving for a few years. Waiting to gain some confidence in my FMQ. Now that I have a machine that matches my confidence, I think that will be my first start to finish project.

DonnaC 11-07-2011 10:14 AM

Lucky girl! Hope you enjoy many happy hours of quilting on your new machine.

Diane...DONT pack your Kenmore away just yet......its going to take time to learn all those bells and whistles...and some days your going to get frustrated because the newer machines are like computers and you know how that works.....so its always good to have an extra machine around just because........hopefully your going to go to some classes and I hope you have lots of fun sewing and getting to know your new friend.....good luck......god bless!!!!
Trish

misscarol 11-07-2011 12:08 PM

I still love my very mechanical Kenmore. If I know Im going to be power sewing, I bring it out. Enjoy your new machine!

You might be interested in this tidbit of info. I teach sewing and quilting, and was talking to a sewing machine repairman recently about machines. I have a Pfaff 7570, a Singer Featherweight, a Viking 1100, a Brother CS6000i, and an older New Home. My repairman and I were talking about what to recommend to my students. He said to stay from the newer Singers, and he recommended to only buy a Brother or Baby Lock now-a-days. They are the two most reliable machines being made today.

neece 11-07-2011 01:10 PM

What a great day for you. When we were little kids my brothers would always take their"thing"to bed so the rest of us wouldn't take it. I guess now that we all are older i don't need to worry about you taking your new machine to bed!!!

Taughtby Grandma 11-07-2011 01:58 PM

I've had my Babylock for about 2 years, I love it! Especially the start/stop button and the needle threader! Oh yeah and the embroidery attachments, and I guess just about everything. Hope you have as much fun withyours!

sewloved 11-07-2011 02:12 PM

It won't be totally packed away. I have the original packaging and would prefer to protect it in that, than leaving it unused and exposed to the elements.

I may have already sewn a few things and hugged it once. :D

quiltntoday 11-07-2011 02:22 PM

Congrats! I hope it is a machine you truly love and can do everything you want it to do.

JEM65 11-07-2011 02:27 PM

Congratulations! So happy for you - enjoy your new toy!

danece 11-07-2011 02:34 PM

Congrats, I'm looking at a new one myself, have fun and happy sewing, can't wait to see a picture of your first completed project from your new baby, by the way are you going to give her a name
