Congrats on your new machine. I have the Brother Cs1000i and I love it. I didn't know what I had and thought, because of the price, I was missing something in features but I was wrong. Most of the reviews I read on-line have this machine rated first or second for features in its price range. Unless you get into the $1,500 price range there isn't a better one out there so keep on sewing and feel good about your choice. You didn't sacrifice anything!

I have that sewing machine, and have made several quilts on it, and LOVE it! The needle-down feature, which I didn't know I needed, is one I now couldn't live without. And sewing by pushing buttons (no feet - my feet, that is) involved just feels so liberating! Sometimes I sew with my legs crossed Indian style in my chair, just because I can! Not for long, though, just because I'm old.

I have been looking at that very machine myself, because it is supposed to work without the foot pedal! The box says that you can disconnect the foot pedal and just use the start/stop button...I was trying to get info on free motion quilting...wondering if it would work as a stitch regulator if you dropped the feed dogs?
That machine also has a built in stipple stitch, and I would love to have that!
Congrats on your machine...Donna

Doing the happy dance for you and your DH.

I bought this machine last spring and it is one of the best investments I have ever made. I absolutely love it, love it, love it!!!! The needle down and speed control are the most wonderful options I have ever found on a machine. I do alot of applique so they both have been a godsend. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I have mine.

Wow -- congrats -- my 1991 Singer with 9 stitches and the Montgomery Ward it replaced (my SIL has it) live on and stitch happily along -- I sometimes wish I had decorative stitches, but at the time I bought the Singer, I was angry about the MW tension (DH fixed it after I bought the Singer) and wanted a simple machine , but oh well... it sews well.

Awesome! Congrats on your new machine. I have a Brother PR420 and just love it. Brother is a really good brand and known to be workhorses.

Have fun and happy sewing.
