Braving it, I used stripes. three are straight across, one is a little diagonal, dang it. Too much trouble and probably impossible to un-sew. I need the galloping horse for sure. Does anybody else avoid them like I do?

The trick is to use them all wonky or all on the bias.

Most people avoid them, but I seek them out. You'll notice that they are always on the clearance shelves at quilt stores.

JenniePenny - your quilt is amazing - you certainly have and "eye".
I've only used stripes is a scrappy quilt. Recently used a piece of fabric.. baby blue background with a sort of star design in lines making it a striped fabric. Not lined up so very disappointing but learned my lesson to check design in the future when dealing with stripe-type pattern. |

I think they make awesome bindings.

Stripes and plaids drive me batty and I am picky about the patterns I choose to use them in :D:D:D |

I love stripes too ... this quilt is one I made using Anita Grossman Soloman's book "Rotary Cutting Revolution" - "XCentric" block. From one striped fabric. XCentric Block Quilt |

I love them but can't sew them because they make me dizzy. LOL I have enough problems so I avoid them.
|
Beautiful pictures
|
Can't use them - when I try to I see stars!!
|
I dislike stripes as well. Never buy any for my quilts,
don't even like plaids. I bought a couple striped fabrics to use on the bias for binding on crib quilts and can't seem to use the rest of the fabric. Still sitting in my stash. LOL |
I teach a beginning Quilters course at my local Adult Education program. First rule of fabric is NO STRIPES. If someone wants to tackle them later fine, but not for beginners.
|
LOVE them - they are so versatile.

I only use stripes when they are part of the design for the quilt. This one went in my teen daughter's room. She picked the rainbow stripe and I re-cut it to form diamonds. The quilt evolved as I made it. So don't ask for the pattern, there isn't one. It is a one-of-a-kind as I doubt I'll never make another like it.

I love wearing stripes, but hate sewing them:)
|
I am making a quilt called Ribbon. I am using a strip to set off each block. Without the stripe, the pattern would look just like any ole' quilt block. I am an amature in quilting but I do like stripes. (spelling also)

depends on why I'm making. Strips are great for Potholders.
|
Once upon a time, I did not like stripes. Now I look for them and love them.

Love that quilt. Wow, stunning.
|
Thanks to the others who showed their stripe quilts. They just fascinate me, the way you can use them to really make the pattern turn out unique.
