Will we live long enough to make all the patterns and use up all our fabric??? I hope not

luvnquilt 01-01-2011 10:24 PM

I can totally identify with you, at first I was printing off a lot of free patterns and putting them in my binder so I'd be organized but then I started using up WAY too much printer ink and my binder is full and I'm still a beginner so I'm not producing anywhere near as many as my brain wants to!

 And did you put the in the binder in alphabetical order too? If you did...you have been in my head :!:

Does anyone use Delicious to tag the bookmarks you want to save? I've been going crazy adding to my Delicious list since I joined this board only two months ago!!!

iowabelle, I recently have gone through my huge stack of quilting magazines and have torn out only those quilts or ideas I want to save. I have recycled all that was left. It's really cut down on what I need to store. I am planning to organize the materials I've saved in file folders or in binders. Declutter and organize!

And you want us to help you out? We're all in the same boat, I fear.

I'm cleaning out my sewing room. LONG OVER DUE. I'm putting all my smaller pieces---------real scraps------in one bag. I think I'll cut strips to sew together until I have a strip long enough to circle the world---------------then make
mug rugs
place mats
purses
table toppers
lap robes
a sweat shirt jacket

Wanna help? lol

Maybe pick a simple pattern which you can complete rather quickly so you can move on to the next project.

Hey, not a bad idea. My new 50" plasma TV has a way to use the little camera discs. I can watch all my saved pictures will I sew.

Or would that be counterproductive?

I am not going to order in 2011, I am not going to order in 2011, I am not going to order in 2011.....I hope!

That's one thing I never spend money on. I save pictures of quilts and projects taht I can easily copy myself. If it's compicated enough that I need a pattern, it ain't happenin' at my house!

Some are easy gifty-things and some are really difficult quilts. Some are patterns I've already purchased and some are xeroxed copies from books and magazines I've purchased. Some are really off the beaten path for me.
My plan is to go through this binder one-by-one for 2011 and quit bouncing all over the place.

Can you get back to us about Feb. 1st and tell us how this plan is going? tee hee

GrannieAnnie 01-02-2011 12:41 AM

[quote=OmaForFour]How about if you put the name of each on a small piece of paper and put them (folded) in a jar. Pick one. When that one is done, pick another.

Sounds like an easy way to decide!

There's a little screen that pops up all the time on the lower right side of the screen that I turn off as soon as it pops up. I'll have to see what the site is. I HATE IT!

We need to take up a petition to make the days longer so we will have enough extra time to quilt. :)

I wear out quickly. What I need is a quick nap drug that lets me get a two hour nap in 15 minutes. lol

katigirl 01-02-2011 01:19 AM

If you find out we all need some of that.

There's a pop up blocker on your computer. You can turn off those pop ups and not be bothered by them.

phillipste01 01-02-2011 07:24 AM

I think I need to win the powerball and RETIRE so I can get some of these beauties made

radha 01-02-2011 08:18 AM

Hey quilters, I am always with each one of you who have thought that this Quilting Board has sown seeds for us all to keep on doing quilts. I too wish always that I had 200 years ti live on, to complete each pattern!!

Thanks for all your ideas.

JUNEC 01-02-2011 10:07 AM

You have no idea how many quilt books I have purchased, but never opened. How much fabric I have purchased but never touched - how many UFO's I have that I have lost interest in.

1 - I have decided this year, I am going to unbury my sewing room - had to declutter my spare room so my inlaws could spend Christmas Eve at our house - so naturally - as you do - I uncluttered that room into my already cluttered sewing room
2 - Organize books, fabric, sewing supplies
3 - Cut out and sew at least 5 hrs a week.
4 - Finish all my UFO's or just pass them on to a new home

I WILL DO THIS - I WILL DO THIS - I hope

If I turn the pop-up blocker off, something else I need gets turned off too. Some of my games won't work.

If I win the lottery, we'll have to have a week long retreat someplace fun----------and really learn from each other.

Sooooo, what's the problem? (You're not alone!)

Rock Lady 01-02-2011 12:07 PM

That sounds like me with quilt books and magazines. I looked at them one day and decided if I made just one quilt from each of the books and magazines I have, I would not live long enough to get one from each done. Decisions, decisions, decisions......

I was guestimating...wasn't going to actually count  I also have a 4" binder FILLED with patterns. I rather like the idea of putting all the names of the quilts in a jar and just pick my next project that way. How long will it take me to write down the names of them all to put in the jar? :?

raynhamquilter 01-02-2011 08:34 PM

Yup! Still crazy after all these years!

I have the same problem. I see blocks I haven't tried before and just started 3 different pinwheel tops (3 different size pinwheels) just cause I loved the fabric and forgot where I left off. I'm overwhelmed with ideas too and people I want to make a quilt for. No time to do any of it. I keep thinking I need to focus on one until it is finished, but I love learning new techniques and new blocks. What is a girl to do?!

quiltinmimi 01-02-2011 10:54 PM

Yes...yes...yes... I do the same thing and my GD decided my computer was running too slow and proceeded to move all my quilting to CDs... aarrrrggggghhhh... now I can't find a thing!!!

katigirl 01-03-2011 12:10 AM

yeah then you will not only have all the time you want but money to buy all the material you want too. That's what we all need to do. :!: :)

mountain deb 01-03-2011 07:51 AM

They are just UFO's -- in your mind.

Charleen DiSante 01-03-2011 07:53 AM

Oh, you mean like the tile floor or the window in the community center? or the pattern the silhouette of a tree makes across the snow or the huge picture of a giraffe and how perfectly the shapes of the spots appear...... on and on and on?

I think I figured out the answer for what next! Last night I was dreaming about a way to do a scrappy quilt.

DRAT------------HIT SEND TOO FAST

It will be called BUTTONS & BOWS, 8 blocks wide by 10 blocks long, and sent to a female soldier at Walter Reed. It's a folded block I learned to make on a Nancy Zieman show. I'm going to set the blocks together with a black or very dark gray tone on tone.

A little bit at a time------------since it is going to be a scrappy quilt. I expect to be done this time next year

denilynne 01-04-2011 05:05 AM

I guess i'm among a very nice group then, cuz i have alot saved on my puter. I'll never get them done but its nice to look at these and dream lol
