what is the purpoose of this exercise? just curious.

deedum 09-17-2011 07:57 PM

From what I gather, it is a journal quilt. Each day journal on a square whatever event or thoughts, etc, I am going to make mine 5 or 6" square. At the end of the year, you will have a journal quilt top, easy peasy really. I thought it was the a great idea!

Kinda cute!

Havplenty 09-17-2011 09:39 PM

okay. i can't even remember to write daily in my big journal let alone writing on a piece of fabric daily.

good luck with your project. most of us can't recall most of our year because it seems to go by so quickly. at least this way you have a usuable record of your new year. it should be interesting.

This sort of reminds me of the scrapbooking 365 projects where people take a picture every day. I can't even remember take one every month for the grandparents' calendars.

Make a bigger square and do it once a week?

Each day!
I am making a 5.5 " sq and journal on it each day! I have a King size bed so that is why I want to make my blocks larger!
Ok, am I the only one who thinks this is a neat idea? Come on everyone!

It is a good idea, but in practice it's hard to be disciplined enough to do something every frickin' day. Life gets in the way. You might skip a day, figuring you'll catch up the next day, and pretty soon you've missed a whole week. I have a blog for this sort of thing. If you can do it, I say go for it! It could be a very gratifying project.

Hmmmmm mine too !!! BORING!! It would be laundry again!! Or scrubbin the toilet!!

But I thought instead of writing of my day sub a sentence of what I'm grateful for or one of my blessings.. Now that's a possibility..

will have to put a reminder in for both of us. I thought if we even precut some blocks ahead of time, then it will make it easier to journal on our busier days. Sounds good anyway!

I love this idea and plan on doing it. I hope to be able to add pics etc. to my quilt journal along the way.
