Make yourself small goals for each day and before you know it, you may even get interested and be able to finish it up.
I am having that problem now. I made some scrappy bento boxes. Well, they are so scrappy that I really am not caring for the end result, but if I make myself go and sew a few seams each day, I will eventually finish them up and I'll be able to cross it off the list! |
i truly understand about eating an elephant, one bite at a time, ugh, then there it is day after day, depression sets in, but only let it depress you as long as you work on it, its like chewing, slowly.....but hey, eventually you WILL get done!
hang in there katz |
offer yourself a reward that you can only partake of when it is finished

Thanks everyone. I am going to work on it tonight - if it kills me. Ugh! I have my machine threaded; that counts, doesn't it?

I'm in the same situation....I don't like my SIL but agreed to make him a video=game-screen quilt. Gave him the top last year and need to finish it this year but I don't like the project OR him. Need to get it done and out of my way but there are too many other projects calling my name!

It doesnt matter how much you have on your plate they will still want things done for free or next to free. Why do it when you can get someone else to do it. I now tell people outragous prices so they will quit asking. Or just say no I'm all booked up. I love to give but not to those that can do it themselves.
When I get stuck I just dig in and keep going that way its over with sooner. |

I haven't started anything, but I sure spend a lot of time staring wistfully at my stash and shopping for more stash instead of finishing it. I'll get it done because I keep my word, but it sure is putting a damper on my happy! After this quilt is out of my room I am not taking on anymore mending, alterations, quilt requests or any other things people can come up with to fill my time. I should have had a whole passel of kids; maybe people would think I'm too busy to do their mending. What do you do when you get stuck? |
Don't set the reward for the end of the project - you'll be hating life for a while. Why not set small rewards? For every hour you work on the obligatory quilt, you GET TO work one hour on a different project. Then it is up to you if you work on the obligation and how long. I bet once you suck it up and get started, it'll be done in no time.
Post some pics. We'll keep you motivated. |
