I just returned from Marshall's and OH MY!!! What a place! I only spent between $200 an $250 but the back of my jeep is full! I'm going to have to go to Walmart and get a luggage carrier for the top of the jeep to get it all home. We're going to Blanchard Caverns and JoJo's Wharf restaurant tomorrow, going to go see Bandit here in a few minutes. We bought some treats for Bandit too.

sweet 06-02-2010 11:00 AM

I'd just love to hear more about your visit!!! Please tell.
What is the best part (besides the shop)?

amma 06-02-2010 11:32 AM

WooHoo!!! Yes, please share pictures of your vacation with us :D:D:D

marsye 06-02-2010 12:41 PM

Your very welcome! I'm so glad you are having a good time and wasn't disappointed with my suggestions! Can't wait to see what you found at Marshalls. Give Bandit a hug for me. He's a precious doggy. Janell and Bandit are expecting you guys.

CarrieAnne 06-02-2010 12:42 PM

Can't wait to see the pics of the fabric  LOL

BellaBoo 06-02-2010 01:42 PM

Isn't it thrilling to walk in there! I live about 2 hours away from Marshall's. My guild has car trips there but I prefer to go alone to browse all day if I want, not have someone say Oh, I have to be back to cook Maynard his dinner so we have to leave by 2.

I thought that's what they made crock pots and tv dinners for. I'd take my own car and just say, "Anyone riding with me is in it for the long haul, I'll probably all day so plan accordingly."
I had a friend that used to ride with me to BOM's and that's what I told her. One day she said, "I have to go straight home today, my husband invited his son and family over today." I turned the car around right then and took her home. I told her to drive herself because I had grocery shopping and other shopping to do.
I've been so busy I haven't taken many pix. But I'll try to take some of the fabric when I get home.
Bandit had gone home for the day right before we got there so we'll try again tomorrow. We hit a lot of the touristy shops downtown and had browsing in the 90+ degree weather. Feels good to be back in air conditioning.

The scenery is BEAUTIFUL here, the people are very friendly, the prices aren't too bad for a tourist area, the cabin is wonderfully comfortable and it's pretty easy to find your way around.

purplemem 06-02-2010 02:16 PM

I want to hear more about this, too. This is only 4 hours from me.

Anyone is welcome to ride with me too, but they know up front I have my own schedule, that's why I'm driving myself. I'll tell DH I'll meet you there and don't have to put up with his gotta get there as fast as possible and be back as soon as possible. We go about everywhere together in separate vehicles.

I am so envious. Send us some pics when you get home. I would love to see what you bought.

Of course, but not for awhile. That was okay, when I quit letting her use me she quit associating with me. BUT, now my rulers don't elope with my quilting books and fabric doesn't come up missing. Some friendships just aren't worth the effort.

Oh, purplemem, plan a trip. Get up really early and go. Plan to spend the night if possible then you'll have more time to shop.
I've already started planning another trip next year.

Not only do your quirky pictures and off the wall sense of humor keep me laughing on even my blackest days, but without you I'd never known about Marshall's and Pinewood Cabins. Keep the pix and the info coming. We're going to Blanchard Caverns and JoJo's Wharf restaurant tomorrow, going to go see Bandit here in a few minutes. We're staying at Pinewood Cabins in Mountain View, Arkansas. We traveled Rt 14 (beautifully scenic) to Batesville. There we went to Marshall Dry Goods.

If he don't stay healthy I'm gonna kill him! ;-)

purplemem 06-03-2010 04:01 AM

Marsye,
Think about going next month around the middle of July...I think dh and I can take 2 days and stay at the cabins...4 hr drive for us, which is my limit for a road trip IF I spend the night. If we came over on Monday, spent the night, SHOP Tuesday, spend the night and drive back Wednesday, it is doable.

Tell me about the food, any good eats?

MJ

Rapture, great news on your finds, we want to see the pics when you get back! Glad you guys are having fun on your trip.

Marsye, looks like you are making friends everywhere you go! Keep up the good work. Marshall's should put you on their Christmas card list.
