Thanks for the info. I really want it.
|
I just pre ordered the EQ7. Many of us are on the same page. I have a couple of friends that have EQ5 or EQ6 and love it. I finally took the plunge and ordered it. Can hardly wait until I get it. Now I wish I could afford to take the plunge for the Janome 7700. Some day.
|
I have EQ 5 and 6. 6 was a big improvement over 5. If 7 is that much better than 6 I can't wait! Thanks for the info, I will head right over for the upgrade.

I'm a big worrier and I'm sure nothing bad will happen, but if I were you, I'd ask Admin to delete your name and address from your post and send it by PM instead. You can't be too careful, in this day and age, with your name and address. I hope I don't insult anyone at this wonderful board by saying this. I didn't mean to, I'm just overly careful. I just think many haven't learned about PM (private message) yet. |
I have EQ 5 but not EQ6 can I order EQ 7 without having 6?
|
Yes. You'll get the whole new program not an update for $130 if your EQ5 is registered. Call the number I posted for EQ. They will have it on file.
|
The EQ5 program has been asked for. Everyone watch Ebay when EQ7 comes out. There should be lots of EQ6 and 5 programs up for bid.

I pre-ordered EQ7 last night, and they did not ask me for the serial no. of my EQ6. It was $58 + Shipping.
|
They didn't ask me either, but I think that will happen over the internet when we try to install the upgrade. I do hope we get a new instruction manual for it.
|
Anyone can buy the upgrade if you have EQ or not. They don't care who pre orders the upgrade or how many. Only EQ 5 registered owners can get EQ7 for the $130 price.

When I bought the upgrade for 6...I had to have 5 loaded on the computer. This will be much better if I get to remove the other 2 programs...they are huge and take up quite a bit of room!!
|
I run a linux computer but I am seriously considering adding windows on just so I can run this program.....
|
Well I took the plunge this morning and pre-ordered it. For $58 you really cannot beat that price. I use my EQ6 quite a bit so I cannot wait to see what the new version can really do.
|
Kiwi, please let me know what you find out about this I have 5, but have never upgraded, and would really like the latest addition. Thanks, Gerbie
|
I agree can't be too careful in this day and age!!

If EQ7 is stand-alone and you purchased the Upgrade from EQ6, would you uninstall EQ6. The website said you could import projects from 6 into 7. Would you need to keep both or import EQ6 projects over and then uninstall 6.
KiwiQuilter - if you were to purchase, would you deal direct with Electric Quilt or look for local supplier? |
Mom's Day? - Birthday? Both are coming up - Ithink a NEW COMPUTER AND EQ7 are on my wish list! (especially after learning EQ7 will run on Windows7).
A girl can wish can't she? |

I agree with you...I think it would be good to start a new thread about that time with some ..."WOW...did ya'll find this yet" ..tips!

From EQ website:
We have completely redone the installation and activation process with EQ7. EQ6 does not need to be installed on the computer prior to installing EQ7. You just need to type in your EQ6 license ID and password during the EQ7 setup. If you lose your EQ6 CD or run out of EQ6 activations, you will still be able to install the EQ7 Upgrade. Just don't lose your EQ6 License ID and Password. And don't worry. You’ll never run out of EQ7 activations! Activation and deactivation is as easy as two clicks of the mouse. Install on as many computers as you like and quickly transfer activations from computer to computer. This new policy gives you complete freedom to manage your own activations |
I emailed EQ and they said they would ship to Aus. for US$20.
My LQS was not offering the "special offer" price so I have ordered direct. Done!!!! |
Good for you!! That is a pretty good shipping rate...I'd love to get to Australia for that price!!
|
sandpat - squeeze into that EQ box and I'll have a glass of wine and a shrimp on the barbie waiting for you!
|
What a GREAT idea!!!!
|
Thank you so much for this. I just ordered and glad I waited till now I would have paid the same price for EQ6 as I am for the EQ7.
|
I just spent the last hour searching for my EQ6 user manual so I could make sure I had my license # and password before ordering the upgrade. Unfortunately, I don't know where all my companion disks are (such as angle play), but I am sure I will eventually find them as well. I don't use them as much as I thought I would. I have my DJ and my Blockbase, so I am good. Hope there are a lot of new blocks with the new upgrade.
I did find my book, so I ordered! Yipee!!!! |
YIPPEE!!!!
My EQ7 just arrived. Shipped to my work, so I will have to wait until I get home to play. Patti |
I got mine last week and finally loaded it today. Looks very user friendly and I've already put one of the IRR quilt tops on it to play with.
I'm wondering....I read in the book that it isn't "legal" to sell your older versions...like EQ5. When I loaded the EQ7 though, it said on the terms and conditions that you could sell it-if you notify EQ and unregister your copy and forward ALL of the CD's, manuals, etc. that came with the copy...so what do ya'll think and are you planning to sell your older versions? I know I can't sell EQ6 because I just bought the 7 Upgrade..but I DO have EQ5.. Just wondering.... :? |
I have Eq 5 and it works wonderful. I have designed in it and everything. I also have eq 4 and it also works good. I guess it's what you want to do in these programs. Both 4 and 5 are the complete programs and you don't have the activation deal and I love that as I change computers and sometimes I reformat etc.
I emailed about eq7, I wouldn't want any upgrades. I would want EQ7 by itself. EQ7 is 150.00 if you have eq 5...I wouldn't mind letting go of 4 and 5. they both have all the books etc. I wonder if there is a great differece between them. I guess if you are just beginning, 4 and 5 would be just as good. |
Well..the EQ7 Upgrade and the "complete" EQ7 are exactly the same thing...or so they say. The only difference is the price and the fact that with the Upgrade, you need to enter your EQ6 ID and password to be able to activate EQ7. You don't have to have it installed though. THe limited # of activations went away with EQ7..so thats not an issue either.
Really...I was just wondering what you guys are doing with your older versions....selling? Keeping?? |
I wouldn't mind selling my EQ 4 and 5....doesn't make sense to hang on to them if I'm going for the 7...

Thats a really good question...please let us know what they say. My plan "was" to import and then "save" any earlier quilts that I wanted to have on EQ7, then to "uninstall" both 5 & 6...because you are right, they DO take a LOT of memory!

Dear Gay, All of the copyright-free blocks from EQ5 and EQ6 are in EQ7, as well as an additional 500 or so new blocks. There were about 160 blocks that were copyrighted in EQ6. The fabric libraries in EQ7 are completely new, as fabrics quickly go out of print from manufacturers. If you would like to keep the fabric libraries, go to C:\Program Files\Electric Quilt Company\EQ6\lib and copy all of the files that end in .fab to (My) Documents > My EQ6 > User. Do the same for EQ5. Then, in Eq7, follow the steps on pages 54-55 of your user manual to link both of the User folders with EQ7. That should do it and then you can uninstall both EQ5 and EQ6. Best Wishes, Sara |
