Add some heart appliques to the ones that don't seem to fit in. It is because they are missing one of the colors. Once you add in the missing color it will also pull in the one heart block you have with the rest.

The heart needs to be in the center of the second row from the bottom so it will be featured on the bed. It is too special to be under the pillows. I think sashing will take care of a lot of your worries. Put the big X up under the pillows so it's not featured. Nothing wrong with it, it's just a strong block and shouldn't overpower the pretty hearts.

You have a great start and you DIL will love it.

beautiful she is correct maybe move some around or put a shashing between them.it is wonderful. nice job,.

I also think the heart needs to go in the middle. I think the blocks look perfect and it will make a big difference once you add the sashing to it.

I agree. I don't see a problem at all.

Wow!! Looks great!! Lots of the blocks are similar to mine! I love the classics. I own EQ7, but haven't had the time to learn to use it. Guess I should. I'll send you a PM. Thanks

Oopps I have 2 of the same block. Ugh! Thats what happens when I hurry! Luann

Your blocks are beautiful, though. Hope you can find an arrangement that you like. It does look a little heavy as it is now.

sampson001 01-03-2012 11:32 AM

The heart needs to be moved, more into the centre

sampson001 01-03-2012 11:44 AM

Yes, this is looking better

margecam52 01-03-2012 11:49 AM

Once you add sashing...the placement won't matter that much...I'd place the sashing fabric on the design wall..then place the sashing fabric, leaving what will be the finished width of the sashing showing between...that way you can get a better idea of what the assembled quilt will look like.

jbj137 01-03-2012 01:31 PM

Looks fine to me. J J

Take a picture of it. Cut the blocks out and rearrange. Its easier than resetting the pieces.

patdesign 01-03-2012 01:59 PM

I think when you add the sashing you will find an arrangement you love! I agree with Margecam:)

Your block all look nice but I think what might be throwing you off is the heart block that is appliqued. When I covered that one the quilt looked great - try it. Maybe make one more pieced block if you have enough fabric .Once you get the shashing on I think you will be happier.

carolstickelmaier 01-03-2012 03:39 PM

Looking Wrong?

Beautiful blocks! I like heart in middle ..............But that said.................little trick I learned. Take digital picture of each setting you come up with. Let them set for a day or so then look at each setting you have come up with....Usually one will stand out as the "right one"
Good Luck all look great let us know when you get it done and send Pic

blackbearbetty 01-03-2012 05:00 PM

it looks like some of your blocks are small then others. maybe you need to put a small block with two large ones so that all your rows are the same length.

tjradj 01-03-2012 05:07 PM

I love your blocks. I agree that the bottom 3 blocks could use some tweaking. The left and right ones need the third colour, as all the other blocks have 3 colours. The center block needs more "white" space. Those are minor things so if she loves them, just work with them. She's the one who has to like it. :)

I really like your suggestion of making three more hearts and put one in each corner. That would make a gorgeous quilt!!!

Yes, leave the hearts and other 2 i mentioned just move them around to break up the points. Im thinking the heart needs to go in the middle b/c its the only one with soft corners, all the others have points. Or, make three more heart blocks and put each one in the 4 corners.

Macie 01-04-2012 04:24 PM

I think the 1st top row Left should be in center of 1st row the bottom right put in center of 2nd row the 2nd row I would put on the bottom right I think this might work out If I had a pic with them this way I may want to make another change

DebbieJJ 01-05-2012 03:50 AM

Please be sure to post a picture of it when you get it together! I love what you've shown so far!

It'sJustMe 01-05-2012 04:27 AM

Second pic, bottom row - they need to be separated. They look like the 3 most uncomplicated blocks.

Natalie17 01-05-2012 12:15 PM

Unreal ! I made the same sample in the same colors a few years ago. I am just sewing up 6 blocks of it now. Only six because I cut off the points on so many . So, I am doing a charity quilt. I put the heart more towards the center. I think that worked best for me.

Natalie17 01-05-2012 12:27 PM

I think I deleted myresponse but if not just ignore this. I did the same sampler last year and cut points off many squares (accidently) .So, last month I pulled themout and decided to make charity quilts with what I could salvage. I put a 2 1/2 sashing around each block in red and then did a 4 " border. I am going to practice my meandering quilting on it and put the binding on. I will try to remeber to send you a pictue .
i put my heart in the center , I think.
