I like quilts that are one of a kind.
I like to mix patterns to make one pattern. The patterns are not my design but the finished design is. Here is one I made using the Disappearing Pinwheel block and and a pieced duck block. |
I like quilts that are:
personalized for a specific person have a combination of piecing, embroidery and applique pay attention to details (color, design, small surprises) completed in a few months after starting loved and used |
I like quilts that make people think I'm the most creative, talented person ever. LOL
|
What a wonderful list for us to dream about!

I like quilts that sing!:D

Wow! And I thought I had a lot of kits put together! You could sew without leaving the house for years! |
I like quilts that
1. look difficult but are actually easy to make 2. create optical illusions 3. look artistic and unique 4. are fun to make without a lot of tedious repetition (is tedious repetition an oxymoron? lol) 5. have beautiful unique colors |

[QUOTE
Do not have 92 pieces in every block.
Ditto! I recently finished an animal quilt top and omitted the monkey I drafted, as it had 40 pieces in an 8" finished block. Yuck! |

I like quilts that
1. Use Pat Speth's mehods of units. You can audition them and come up with a pleasing design or use the setting she has shown. 2. I love scrap quilts. 3 I also love civil war quilts and bargello quilts. 4. Most of all I love donation quilts. |
...are like eye candy.
...that make others say OMG. ...that you can really tell the recipient is amazed. |
Made me proud to make
Fits receiver theme Giving with joy Used up scraps but looked intentional |
I love quilts:
* That use up my little scraps, not my yardage. (A four inch square is considered yardage.) * Are going to be used. * Are loved by all those grandchildren and their parents. * That go to charity. * That you made! |

I like to make quilts that:
-inspire me to jump in to the fabric stash -have a recipient in mind, mostly for comfort and joy -are colorful -don't take more than 2 months to finish -have motion but aren't busy -fully cover the user from head to over-the-toes I like to look at quilts that -have multiple subpatterns within -are whimsical -use color in a unique way -are symmetrical |
That are easy to do but look intricate
That let my kids know they were made for them with my love That help me learn something new |
Have been made for ME. Being a quilter myself I have never been given a quilt. I do LOVE making and giving my quilts away.

I like (to make) quilts that...
...are fun to put together ...are a challenge to put together ...have lots of colors, are scrappy and/or "crazy" ...are my own design ...feature a lot of jewel tones offset by black ...have a geek/science/technology theme ...are a gift for someone special I like (to look at) quilts that... ...are made by someone I know ...are made by a new quilter (I love to cheer beginners on!) ...feature a lot of handwork such as piecing, quilting, or embroidery embellishments ...have so much going on that I have to look and look and look and still keep finding new things ...have really good, inspiring FMQ ...are really detailed art quilts where I have to almost touch it with my nose to see what's going on ...make me stop and think, or have an emotional impact ...feature clever jokes or puns (hidden or obvious) ...won't leave my mind, to the point I have to go back and look some more ...are "landscape" quilts featuring local places/images ...are really complex designs I don't think I'll ever do myself ...are modern and challenge tradition ...are traditional, homey favorites Mostly it could be shortened to simply "I like quilts" and be spot-on accurate! I've seen quilts that brought up feelings of shock and horror due to the subject matter, but I still like the quilt itself, if that makes any sense. |
