I like quilts that . . .
I like quilts that
1. look difficult but are actually easy to make 2. create optical illusions 3. have blocks of different sizes 4. use lots and lots of different fabrics (scraps) How would you finish this sentence? |
Utilize many colors.
Are forgiving in their design, If I make a mistake, it's hard to find. Do not have 92 pieces in every block. |
Are soft and comfy ( think wool batting)
Are hand quilted |
I like (to make) quilts that:
|
Are made with love in the heart
Received with appreciation and joy Used for the purpose of warmth and comfort |
....that I design myself
....that are bed quilts with wool batting. ....that use one shape block components but surprise with their overall intricate look. ....that have several different fabrics/prints in the same color family and use more than one color family. Jan in VA |
I like quilts that are finished......think 46 UFO's and another 100+ fabric kits complete with pattern attached. What was I thinking???? Apparently I wasn't.
|
...are my design
....are made with a specific recipient in mind |
....that are my own design
....have dynamic color combinations ....look harder than they actually were to put together ....have a theme ....have fantastic FMQ designs |
Have so many different fabric's
different blocks incorporated and beautiful feathers quilted |
Are easier than they look
optical design that will be loved by whomever I give it away to I can get the fabric in sale, as I live on fixed income and 12-15.00 a yard I can't afford..... too bad too I want to keep my lqs in business also catch -22. |
My own design.
Love hand quilting colorful and fun designs in them. to be loved and used by who ever gets them. |
This is one kind of quilt we all like!
|
I like quilts that are
* designed by me * start out wrong but end up right * use big blocks (although I just started a small block quilt) * Use no more than 4 fabrics (5 on a really great day) * utilize large print fabric * indulge my love of bright colors * are striking in appearance * When done, make someone happy, even if it's only me. |
Colorful
Made with fabrics that compliment each other Made with the recipient in mind Have a personal connection That showcase the quilters talents |
Have a more modern look, and are made with uncomplicated blocks. Also love quilts that have interesting modern quilting designs
|
Are finished.
|
Have vintage fabrics or fabrics from special pieces of clothing.....
|
I like quilts. Period.
|
I especially like quilts that are visually appealing, have simple quilting for a softer look and feel, that reflect a mood or season or interest.
That said, I don't think I've ever actually seen an "ugly" quilt. Some might not match my preferences for design or color choice, but they were still pretty in their own way. |
I like them all and am joining the mystery train tomorrow b/c all the blocks
and designs fit that description and are easy and great. |
I like quilts that the person I give my quilts to appreciate and use them.
|
I like a quilt
Made for a family member with love and warmth.
|
.... are big, love looking at the quilts at shows over 100" both directions.
|
....that I design myself.
....that people usually ask where I got the pattern from and I can say "there IS no pattern!" because it's an original. ....that I can incorporate hundreds of different fabrics from my stash without it looking cluttered or tacky. ....that is more traditional than contemporary or modern looking. ....that are functional, not just made to hang up and look at. (Throw quilts, bed quilts, etc.) ....comfortable. I don't want them to feel stiff and overquilted... I want them soft and good to cuddle with. |
I like quilts that are.....
handmade super warm fluffy looking, cuddly not over quilted and stiff scrappy, useful not too difficult to piece quilts with no handsewing! |
I like quilts that are scrappy but look fabulous when all done. I like quilts that will be used by their recipient. I like looking at everyone's quilts as they are all unique in their own way.
|
Apparently, I like quilts with cat hair! :D That's what my cats tell me anyway.

I love quilts by Pet Speth because she take unit turns them this way and that and you get many different blocks. I also love quilts that use lots of colors. BTW Pat Speth's web site has free quilt designs and others to purchase too. Her website is patspeth.com

- Have many bright, beautiful, colorful fabrics - Are made with a challenging pattern of many pieces, (the more the better) - Are more modern than traditional - Have a different or interesting design - Have clear, bright colors - Are soft and warm with a minimum of quilting - Current favorite designers are Jason Yenter and Kaffee Fassett This is a great topic, thank you for starting it. While I understand there is a great reward to giving a quilt to someone who really loves it. My main motivation for quilting is to learn and challenge myself and make the quilts "I" want to make. If someone loves it, great. If not, I really don't care. There are many charities that are glad to get my quilts. |
I like quilts, especially the ones that are done. (Lots of UFOs in my house, too)

I like quilts (I make) to:
1. knock your socks off 2. captures your eyes and doesn't let them go 3. makes you feel some kind of emotion 4. make you want to grab it from me and run |
What everyone says, but definitely finished.
|
I like quilts made with love. No matter the pattern because somewhere in there is a heart!
