I have made three tops that are big enough for a bed, but have not quilted them. I do put the lap quilts on the bed in winter when I just cannot get warm in January. I have put as many as three on top of the blankets.

There is NOTHING better than sleeping under a handmade quilt!

Good for you. We love sleeping under my quilts.

We have been sleeping under my quilts for a very long time.
Everyone I know and some I don't know have quilts from me. Since I still love making quilts I had to donate lots of them Can't store all I make. |
I love having a quilt on my bed. I don't remember ever not having one to sleep under. My Mother was a quilter and we always had one to sleep under at home. When I married 49 yrs. go, she gave my a quilt then and latter more quilts. Now that I'm a quilter I make them for my 2 sons and their family.

Glad you are enjoying your quilt. Must be so satisfying to sleep under a quilt you've made yourself!
Here in Chicago tho it's so hot I've just been sleeping under a double gauze blanket LOL (and yes, I have the AC on full blast-- still too hot for a "real" blanket or quilt!) |

A double gauze blanket is just a blanket made of double gauze fabric :)
If you're not familiar with double gauze it's a fabric that's popular in Asia (Japan and South Korea in particular) and it's just what it sounds like... a fabric made of 2 layers of gauze material. Each layer of gauze is joined together by little stitches at regular intervals. The gauze fabric is normally flat and is generally of a better quality than the single layer gauze sold in the US. It's delightfully airy and usually quite soft as it is often used for baby things. Despite being made of a super light fabric, double gauze is surprisingly snuggly but I don't find it hot at all. The double gauze blanket I made isn't finished yet because I was thinking of quilting it to a piece of muslin or making a sandwich of double gauze-muslin-double gauze. However, after testing it for a few nights I love it just the way it is, so I'll be finishing the edges soon  Nothing exciting but here's the front and back of the gauze blanket. The top layer has yarn dyed pinstripes in black on white and the second layer is plain white. Please excuse the rumpled look-- I just got out of bed :D |
