Go shopping and mail the fabric home!

Ok, those of us in Utah- help each other out. Time to list quilt shops in the area to visit! My suggestion- make the "famous" part of your vacation! The first 3 are all Salt Lake City area- all 3 could be hit in one day with minimal driving.
My entries for the "famous" to visit: Ranae Haddin! (Red Snappers, famous quilt teacher) Quilts on the Corner 212 E Main St. Sandy, UT 84070 Phone: 801-503-7012 Email: Golden Threads! (featured on quilting shows and videos of quilting techniques) 445 N. 700 W. North Salt Lake, UT 84054 Toll Free Phone: 888-477-7718 Fax: 855-579-3635 E-Mail: Handiquilter! (maker of the Long Arm machines, they have a 3,000 square-foot education studio and take tours- notice the address is the same as Golden Threads- hit two at once!) 445 N. 700 W. North Salt Lake, UT 84054 1-877-697-8458 |
Got to love it :)

Shop till yah drop! Have fun!
|
I did that not too long ago as well. Had to visit some fabric shops while away. :-) We are planning a Michigan trip over the 4th of July (to Mackinac Island....can't wait!) I have an english paper piecing table runner project already cut out and waiting to be hand sewn while riding in the car and any leisure time while there.

Oh I'm so happy to know I'm not the only one who has to visit a quilt shop everywhere she goes!!! We are ADDICTS!!!@#$%^&*(
|
People that aren't "fabric-holics" don't understand. But when my husband died I would go to my LQS and just hang out. Having fabric around me, touching it, and YES buying it was really comforting to me!

Hi Mimicrystal! I live about 25 mi north of you in Oklahoma!
We went on a vacation the end of March to see our daughter in Colorado and then rented a car and drove across eastern Wyoming to see our DGD who attends Montana State in Billings. I didn't bring anything either, and eastern Wyoming that time of year is desolate! And all I could think about was "Why didn't I bring some handwork"! THEN, we stopped for gas in Buffalo, WY, which has under 4000 pop. It was a beautiful little town with well-kept shops along the main street. Then I saw it....a quilt shop! We bought gas and then parked downtown and DH sat in the car and read a book while I spent some time "feeling the fabric" and looking at the notions! I bought a little double heart template to use on the border of a baby quilt I was in the process of putting together. It was just the fix I needed! I'm quilting it now. New granddaughter due mid-August! Here's the template - just perfect! Quilt before adding border |
Hi. We are getting ready to go on vacation to Chicago and I have already started looking for the quilt stores. By the was I live in Kingston, Ok just across Texoma from you.
|
Sorry for the double post.
|
You'll feel better after the LQS stops tomorrow. Pick up a fat quarter and a book on fabric origami and maybe it will help your withdrawal pangs.

Welcome to Utah. Utah is a beautiful state and we do have some very nice quilt shops. Take a few minutes and visit some and you will feel better. |

Touched and felt lots of fabric and quilts. Bought a quilt magazine so I could just dream and plan. Fell so much better just doing that. If we have time tomorrow or Wednesday I will explore some more shops. Thanks so much for listing the shops. I googled quilt shops and went by the ratings to see which ones I wanted to go to. Hi sylviak. Where do you live? That quilt is beautiful. Congratulations on the baby. We are visiting my husbands 3 daughters. And one is expecting, due in September. I will be making her a quilt. Sounds like your trip was wonderful. Good talking to you.

I go through this every time that I travel. A lot of times lately, I have been taking small projects with me.

Went through that a few weeks ago on our trip to CO. Had DH take me to a Joann Fabrics and bought the Clover yo-yo forms in the large and extra-large sizes and some colorful FQ's and started working on this just for fun.
