I'm on vacation right now in the beautiful state of Utah. I'm from Texas. I didn't bring any projects with me to work on because nothing extra would fit in my bags. I am having withdraws. We left Texas Wednesday and won't be home until this Thursday and then I'm having my high school reunion all weekend. I'm going to go crazy by then. I need a fix. :).

Find a local quilt shop and go for therapy!

Joanie2 06-05-2011 08:27 AM

I agree. Go find a quilt shop and just pet the fabric. You will feel the sparks going up your arms and directly to your brain and you will feel the "aahhhh". You don't have to buy, you can just dream and feel the love.

jmabby 06-05-2011 08:30 AM

I was going to suggest the same as above, find a quilt shop, buy some pattern and a bit of fabric, maybe applique. I take applique with me and find I really get a lot done while away from home. You can do it while watching TV, visiting, while others drive, etc.

She needs her fix!!! As soon as you hear her moan or giggle she will be alright..... [it wouldn't hurt to let her buy something , you know to get her through till she gets home]

I feel your pain.........

cctx. 06-05-2011 10:25 AM

Go to Walmart crafts department and browse their fabrics.

Country1 06-05-2011 10:29 AM

RUN to the nearest store and find a small project you can work on. DT's can be dangerous so RUN!

Raggiemom 06-05-2011 10:30 AM

I agree, you need to visit a LQS!

alikat110 06-05-2011 10:43 AM

Withdrawals are dangerous. Follow advice given above! Failure to do so could result in hospitalization!!!!

mimicrystal 06-05-2011 02:33 PM

We have been too busy doing other things the past few days. But we are going to hit several LQS tomorrow. I cannot wait to browse through the stores and touch everything. I know I will feel better tomorrow. You guys are so funny, but you know how I feel huh?

pnptrapp 06-05-2011 02:47 PM

What part of Utah! I'm glad you goign to get your fix!

emerald46 06-05-2011 02:48 PM

I know the feeling..just got back from 3 weeks in Ireland! Stop at a LQS. I did in Limerick, had a great afternoon and purchased lots of English fabric. Quilters are wonderful no matter where I am in the world! Enjoy your trip!

mimicrystal 06-05-2011 07:23 PM

I'm in north Salt Lake. Provo area. It's so beautiful here.

Iran south Salt Lake.

OneMoreQuilt 06-05-2011 08:00 PM

Ohhh....you need to go shopping, buy fabric and ship it so it's waiting for you when you get home!!! You'll get your fix now and have fabrics from your trip to play with later.

Cosy 06-05-2011 08:06 PM

Lots of quilters in the Provo area, and some cool shops!

GreatStarter 06-05-2011 08:12 PM

Quick, find a local quilt shop. Browse, dream, and maybe pick up a small handwork project. Or if you absolutely must have a certain fabric(s), buy it and you can ship it home. Enjoy!!!

You need a souvenir of your trip....how about a pattern or some fabric from a quilt shop or two or three. Sure beats a coffee mug!

Monie 06-06-2011 03:48 AM

Go get a project at wm.

Pink Dogwood 06-06-2011 03:51 AM

I too went on vacation without any projects, but compensated by visiting with some wonderful ladies at the LQS around Gatlinburg TN. It sure was fun to meet them and see what wonderful fabrics they had. Oh,and I did buy some beautiful fabrics that cured my fabric ache. Now I'm home and back with my stash!!!

Yooper32 06-06-2011 03:53 AM

Surely there is room in the trunk for a scrap or two.

redmadder 06-06-2011 04:09 AM

You've learned your lesson. Next time make room for a project.

Next lesson. There are LQS everywhere. And it doesn't cost that much to drop it in the mail so its waiting when you get home.

Now enjoy your vacation. Provo is soooo beautiful.

You can always slip it into a large envelope and mail it home!

ga447 06-06-2011 04:48 AM

I drove to Euless, TX last week and I knew I was not able to sew, I played w/grandkids (best gift ever). But I was going through withdrawal so luckily I went shop hop in Colleyville, TX and Hen Feathers in Wichita, KS.

grannypat7925 06-06-2011 05:32 AM

Surely there is a quilt shop where you can get a 'fix'!

Welcome to Utah. Utah is a beautiful state and we do have some very nice quilt shops. Take a few minutes and visit some and you will feel better.

Iamquilter 06-06-2011 06:15 AM

Yep you should find some small hand project you can work on until you get home.

mimee4 06-06-2011 06:33 AM

Even a quilting magazine will help. You can plan the next project.

Mumzbear 06-06-2011 06:42 AM

I'm from Utah! If I knew where you were staying, I could direct you to a great quilt shop! If you are in the Salt Lake area, don't miss The Material Girls! They have a great shop.

grammysharon 06-06-2011 08:01 AM

I am going on vacation and have prepared 3 hawaiian applique blocks to take with me. I would go crazy without some handwork to do since my DH asked me not to bring my sewing machine!!!

rexie 06-06-2011 08:05 AM

I would have to go get me something to do.

QandE2010 06-06-2011 08:09 AM

I feel your pain. We've been away for 2 1/2 weeks. But I did take my Pfaff 2170 with me, because, to quote my DH, I get b_ _ _ _ y if I can't "play" with fabric regularly. I machine embroidered on my DGD's towels & washcloths that she'll take to college this fall. Also DGD, DD & I hit every LQS, Joanns, hancocks & hobby lobby within a 20 mile radius. Every time I would purchase another piece of fabric DGD & DD would say together,"that is my favorite color for a quilt." LOL I gave DGD a quilt while there for her high school graduation. She loved it.
