I posted last night my frustration with this quilt. I had the back all picked out and then did not have enough to back it with it. Had to get other fabric and what I thought would look good at the store, now I really don't like it. I have to have this done in a week, and really do not want to spend more money on more fabric. How bad does it really look? I have no idea why I thought the other type of design would go? What do you think? It is going to be raffled off, so I was really hoping to do a good job and something I would be proud of. please help... my family is good at telling me how wonderful everything looks but I think they are bias. I think that would be great for the back, what color are you binding it in?

I like it! However, if you like your first fabric better, but don't have enough, could you use it for most of the back and just add a border in another fabric to get it to the right size?

I am short about 3 yards would that still work ? I was also thinking of making squares out of both fabrics, but I do have to have this done in a week.

I have not decided yet. I was going to go with the darker fabric because I had the green as a final border, but it was not laying flat at all and I had a serious issue with it ruffling on me. So I decided to just take it off and leave the darker border. So now I have a lighter on the back and a dark on the front.

Unless my monitor is showing colors wonky, I think your choice of backing looks great! What about it bothers you? Sometimes if we can figure that out, it helps us decide what to do.

I had picked a dark background the same brown and green as on the front just a different pattern, and then I do not think the green matches up with the green material. So it may just be not being able to wrap my head around the fact that I need to use a different backing then I originally planned.

I love the back, I think it definitely compliments the top. The colors on the back do not have to match the top. In fact sometimes it is fun to have the exact opposite. It will make the quilt more interesting.

But it is just another opinion, if it doesn't feel right to you. Than it is not right. That is the main thing.

If you use maybe a solid color binding I think it would be OK.

I probably would not use this one if you are planning to do the backing that wraps around to the front of the quilt.

I think it's a very good choice. Makes the quilt not be so gender specific. I can see a girly girl and the tough guy both liking the quilt colors and patterns. It's a great quilt choice of pattern and fabric for a raffle.

I think it looks fine. Maybe use a solid blue as teh binding but otherwise looks ok to me.

I think the backing would be fine. What I'm seeing on my screen, is the top lighter squares were done with a lighter green fabric that is in your dark fabric. But, the backing green color is also in the dark block. I'll be fine!! :D :D No worries!

Thank you everybody for your kind words and encouragement. After lunch will iron and pin it and quilt it in the next couple of days. Why does things always have to happen so that there is no big blocks of time just sit and quilt? Will post pics after I am done

It looks perfectly o.k. in the photo.

It seems to pick up the main colors from the top. It is a tight geometric pattern which is very different from the floral squares but the alternate square is a geometric - so why the heck not use it?

I think the new backing makes the whole quilt more interesting, I love it!!! :D:D:D You did a beautiful job on the quilt top!!! I can't wait to see the finished project :D:D:D

That fabric is great. I like TEACUP's idea of using the short fabric as a border on the back. In a minute or two you can have a double-sided quilt.

I like the fabric too....hmmmm...hitting monitor to make it show the colors right....Yep...still like it! Can't wait to see it fiinished :D

I love the fabric choices you made! It is showing up dark on my screen( is it green and brown?) maybe you could use a darker brown to bind it.Go for new backing, I think it will add to an already gorgeous quilt.

Well, I don't know what the original you had picked out is like, but I really don't care for this. Sorry. Of course I could be the only person on the planet who doesn't, so don't go by me. I'm wondering, too, if you could make a border for the original? All that said, probably 49 out of 50 people will love it!

The colors seem to match, I'd use it as the backing and bind it with the darkest color for either the backing or form the front side. That way it will go with either side.

I think it looks great. The backing brings out the aqua in the quilt top. I'd would go with that and be proud of it!

Do you think it may be just a little too bright? Would some bleach dull it up a little.

I am finished with the quilt, Yippeee !!!!! Had go with a lighter border, because that is what I had enough of. But ver all I am satisfied with this quilt and am happy with how it looks. I think I even like it. There are some things that I see that could have been a little cleaner but I do not think that people that are not quilters will notice or even think there is something wrong with it.I will post pictures later on this afternoon, It is already making the rounds here where I live where it will be raffled of. Thank you so much for all the comments and encouragement that I have received. This website is great, I feel like I have a whole lot of friends.
