I bought a $13.00 Black and Decker at Walmart. Had to take it back because the water poured out of the cord hole. I was scared to unplug it! Decided on a Sunbeam that was on sale at Target. I have an old Sunbeam that is still good after about 10 years. I wanted an extra iron just for my sewing room.

Funny that older irons did not leak.
Rowentas I have found at thrift stores alot because they leak. Bought one for 6 dollars to use as a dry iron. Love the feel but it dosnt get hot enough either. |
I bought the $8 iron at Wal-Mart and like it!

I never use water in my iron, they always wind up making a mess. I use a spray bottle of water.

I will probably get a lot of flack about my iron, but I went through so many irons that I paid $149 and purchased a DeLonghi Iron. It has its own tank that holds water. The iron weighs next to nothing since it holds no water. I can dry iron all I want. But I get awesome steam when I push the button. I wish I would have purchased this years ago and saved myself all the money I wasted on cheap irons and expensive irons. This is my golden iron and I will love this iron forever! It's my favorite appliance in my sewing room. It makes ironing so easy.

I had a bad experience with Rowenta too. I replaced it with a Digital Velocity V100 iron. I actually got a refurbished one. This iron is made so that it cannot leak. It produces great steam, and it can be set for either auto-off or always-on.

I love my vintage GE dry iron. I searched ebay for weeks on end and one day I found a new in the box, vintage iron and snatched it up. They just don't make irons like that one anymore.

After going through three Rowenta irons and having leaking problems with all of them, I finally purchased a Reliable. (This iron is being used on the Fons and Porter programs this year if you want to see it in action.) Other than the fact that the iron is very heavy due to the water pump inside, it is a great iron. I have been using it for several years and have had no problems with it at all. However, I do have a Black & Decker iron that I use for every day ironing and it works great as well.
