It might probably be more correct to say a border CAN BE a place to rest your eyes...... Actually, appraisers will tell you that the more pieced borders a quilts has - if they are complimentary to the main body of the quilt - the more value the quilt may have.

I prefer the second view you have shown us because I feel it better reflects the design within the quilt. It's going to be quite wonderful when you finish! :)

I like the original quilt the best. The borders you've suggested are just to busy for me. In border #2 picture, take the fabric you've made the triangles with and just make solid run around the quilt, then finish it off with the narrow rust border you've got laid out.

That is an absolutely gorgeous quilt! I agree with the others that option #2 would look best to me. I have also learned something from the comments of other quilters. Really though, I like it the way it is, and think it is stunning.

My thoughts exactly!

I learn some new things from your post. I didn't know borders can add value to the quilt. I just like to try different borders. It's like frame a picture. :) Thanks!

#2 gets my vote. I like the #1, but it looks busy to me. Enjoy finishing...what a beautiful quilt!

Actually, I like it without either border. I think the borders draw the eye away from the beauty of the center of the quilt. It is a gorgeous quilt! Love the colors you chose.

I think it's perfect the way it is without any additional border. If you need additional border to make it fit a bed, I vote for #2 -- it lets the central design shine.

I vote with the majority! #2. Beautiful quilt!

I vote for #2....
