well, you did say simple, but for future reference in case you do one for somebody that will appreciate a bit more work:
I have copied a motif off of fabric before and enlarged it on graph paper. You can then use it to applique with. I do love applique. :D |
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh.... THAT is a good idea!
*files that away for future reference* ;-) |
So many good ideas. I just have to say I love a black and white and red quilt. Can't wait to see what you decide.

definitely Yellow Brick Road or Turning Twenty. Your fabrics are really nice. Go for it.

This pattern:
http://s238.photobucket.com/albums/f...rent=Music.jpg is called "Bodacious" It is real easy and looks complicated. You sew 2 strips on both sides of a contrasting strip and cut out triangles. When the triangles are sewn together, you get the "inset" look. It has layout variations similar to a log cabin. It can be done with as few as 2 contrasting fabrics. I used 4. This picture shows the sew lines better: http://s238.photobucket.com/albums/f...ous_detail.jpg |
I kind of think by what you said, that you are wanting to have more of the black background fabric to mix in for your balance you were taking about. Can you find any more of it? I wish I had some I would send it to you.

I must admit, black and white and red is not my kind of colours, lucky it's not for me! lol If it was mine I would add some brights in there, yellow, lime, etc. |
