IF it was mine, I would get out that seam ripper. I think that Black fabric won't make it through one washing. And it's much easyier to fix at this stage. You will alway wish you had changed that fabric ,if you don't rip now.

black batting, black backing. and quilt close enough to add strength to fabric. we stay in a learning curve while quilting. i have done similar things and have finally learned the most important thing about fabric is not price....it is quality, quality, quality. so, hon, don't be so hard on yourself. learn from this. the quilt is beautiful. finish it. just don't invest any more time on thin fabrics. now, roll your shirt sleeves up and go to the next project.

I read somewhere that when you have a stamped cross stitch block you put fusible interfacing or web on the back to strengthen the stitches and fabric. So I would think you could do the same with the thin fabric. Then use a black batting to keep with the theme. Let us know what you decide.

Such pretty blue fabric!!! I hope you went with the dark batting solution instead of more hard work fusing!

I am in the process of putting fusible interfacing on the black part of the quilt. It seems to have strengthen it a great deal. I have also bought black batting. I am 'itching' to get it together. I think it should be fun machine quilting it.
