I'll post the rest some time when I get around to taking pics of it.

warning-the before pics may make you cringe. They do me.

and after (I used comic book boards, similar to the coroplast method)

I took quite a bit out from the before pics. 3 sets of fat quarters for which I have projects planned and some fabric that I will probably just sell or use for pillowcases or something. I have a whole bunch of other fat quarters too that I have elsewhere. I don't have enough room in any one area to store all of them.

more info on my blog which is in my signature.

frugalfabrics 01-22-2011 12:42 PM

Wow...so there is hope for my storage room!

Colorful Quilter 01-22-2011 12:49 PM

Congrats! on a job well done, isn't it nice to be able to see what you have without having to dig through it?

MomtoBostonTerriers 01-22-2011 01:12 PM

Way to go, gale! You are on your way to a happy sewing stash. I'd be happy ever time I looked at those orderly pieces of fabric.

Izaquilter 01-22-2011 01:19 PM

Love the organized pic the best! It's a lot of work but so well worth it. You will be so glad you spent that time doing it. Great job

ann clare 01-22-2011 01:22 PM

WOW Job well done

KathyAire 01-22-2011 01:36 PM

It looks so neat. Can I rent you by the hour?

caliquocat 01-22-2011 02:56 PM

Can I come shoppping? Everything looks so nice & straightened. I keep my fabric in plastic boxes arranged by colors, gawdy's & 30's.

Raggiemom 01-22-2011 02:57 PM

Wow, that looks so neat now!

It looks so pretty! You're ready to create! Or just pet it for for a while.

sewbizgirl 01-22-2011 05:05 PM

sewingsuz 01-22-2011 05:08 PM

Babs194068 01-23-2011 03:29 AM

Good job. Now you know what you have.

SEW 01-23-2011 04:03 AM

I just started organizing my fabric stash yesterday! Very satisfying... It feels good to bring some order to the chaos in my fabric closet.

pieces 01-23-2011 05:28 AM

Great job. I think a quilter should be able to see the fabric in
a stash so when we start a quilt we can see at a glance what
fabrics we want.

stitchinwitch 01-23-2011 05:49 AM

Its amazing how "boarding" the fabric looks like the stash has been cut in half at LEAST. I'm doing the same thing. It looked like a TON before, and now that I am organizing, it looks like I NEED to go out and buy some more...but I won't.

dorrell ann 01-23-2011 06:03 AM

Sooo much better!

dkabasketlady 01-23-2011 06:13 AM

Fantastic job on the AFTER photos, lol!! You've been VERY busy!

Nolee 01-23-2011 07:10 AM

Hey, as in life, it's how we end up, not where we start. :)

champagnebubbles 01-23-2011 07:30 AM

Nice Job!!

craftymatt2 01-23-2011 07:59 AM

Oh I like the idea of those dividers you are using. I have sooooo very much fabric I wouldn't know where to begin

Wine Woman 01-23-2011 08:00 AM

I think it feels real good to be organized and be able to have what you need at your fingertips. To much precious time wasted digging and looking for something! I used the Coroplast boards and feel I have more room. Fabric is too beautiful to not be able to see it. You did a great job! Looks good!

theresa.redington 01-23-2011 09:08 AM

Looks organized to me :o)

pojo 01-23-2011 09:52 AM

I bet that took awhile!

bluejay 01-23-2011 11:05 AM

Wow, that looks amazing. Great job

IBQUILTIN 01-23-2011 11:07 AM

I try to do that at least once a month, but it never, never stays done. hmmmmmmmmmmm, wish I could be that organized

klgreene 01-23-2011 12:02 PM

Looks great. I don't have that much fabric, but I did organize around Christmas time. Now I have material to be "filed" back into it proper places. So starting another mess. What I need to do is take a week and organize all my photos, tut's, directions, patterns so that I can find what I'm looking for.

huntannette 01-23-2011 12:11 PM

awesome job.....

Gizzy-Girl 01-23-2011 01:06 PM

Hey Gale, great job organizing. I just wrote you PM. I have 40+ large plastic totes that I need to organize. I sure could use some helpful suggestions ;-) Hugz
