I was quite surprised
I worked with a close knit group of women, our little group got split up when our jobs got outsourced to a outside company. We still meet up every year for a weekend to catch up. One of the others mother passed and today was a viewing, when we got there I saw they had hung a memory quilt I made for her mother, it was hanging in front of the casket among the baskets of flowers. I have to admit I was thrilled to know she loved it that much that the family knew they had to include it. Nope, it's not a blue ribbon at a big quilt show, but I think it meant as much to me.

What a wonderful experience! I would have cried my eyes out!
So heartfelt. What a kind person you are and it shows what goes around comes around.
It is so great to know the quilt was appreciated.
Great affirmation of your craft as well as your friendship.
It is really great to know she loved her quilt!
You must have felt so honoured. To know your quilt was appreciated and enjoyed is wonderful.
We often never know the impact of our quilting. Your quilt must have made a powerful imprint on all. I am sure the threads in your heart were touched deeply.
It must have meant a lot to the mother and to them for it to be displayed. Such a great honor is worth a big giant blue ribbon!

Your quilt was a winner and so are you!
how special to have the quilt there.
What a great tribute to you. It is always a blessing to know that someone enjoys our work.
How wonderful! We included the last quilt that mom had finished when we had her funeral and then 5 months later used the same quilt on the memorial table at daddy's funeral.
I'm glad you know that this is worth more than a blue ribbon.
How wonderful! My sister called me not too long ago and asked me if I had a quilt made with green, fushia, and blues in it. Well, I did. She and her daughter wanted to use it as decoration at her Country wedding. I plan to gift it to her as a wedding present so she can cherish the memories forever. (wonder if she planned it that way? hehehehe)

That gesture was better than any blue ribbon!
I don't think you could have been paid a higher compliment!
Much better than a blue ribbon.

How nice to know she really loved your gift. I would still be crying.

I'd think it means even more than any blue ribbon to see your work cherished and appreciated like that.

While I was still employed in a state office, one of the staff, a member of the Sioux Indian tribe lost her husband. She told me that each person who attended the services on the reservation in North Dakota was to get a blanket or quilt in his honor, so she was obtaining the needed pieces. She finally took two smallish quilts I had made for some young relatives. I felt honored to be a part of this. Some years later the escort military personnel who assisted in a burial of a soldier were also given quilts, along with those who had attended the services. This was reported in the press. What a wonderful tradition!!!

I also have a story to tell like this...one of my friends at work ordered a "Fishing" quilt for her son's 17th b'day...the quilt was done a week before his b'day but unfortunately, he was killed in a car crash before he ever got to see the gift his mother planned for him...when we went to the funeral, thye had his quilt in the casket with him...it still touches my heart...
