it has a cream background with taupe designs and just a touch of sage.

tlrnhi 05-28-2009 03:29 PM

Ummmm..........hmmmmmmm..........no clue what to do with it.

Kj05 05-28-2009 03:29 PM

I'm not sure what to do with it, but if you look at it upside down according to the picture, it almost looks like flowers in a vase.

adyldrop 05-28-2009 03:29 PM

looks like awesome tote bag or throw pillow fabric to me. have fun!!!

Oooh, a tote would totally be cool with that fabric.

Shemjo 05-28-2009 03:36 PM

Dittothe tote or throw pillow. Could be interesting as a 4-patch posey. :?

Barbm 05-28-2009 04:02 PM

reminds me of the things that hang from a cuckoo clock.

there's a pattern in the latest Fons & Porter magazine (I'm pretty sure- I'd have to look when I get home) that is for a manly quilt for Dad. It has cool fabric- kind of reminds me of it.

Knot Sew 05-28-2009 04:17 PM

Looks like tongs holding round things........ ohhhhh my

sewjoyce 05-28-2009 04:17 PM

A tote bag would be really neat -- add some red flowery fabric for accent!

littlehud 05-28-2009 05:54 PM

Interesting fabric. I agree a tote would be nice with it.

kwhite 05-28-2009 06:21 PM

It is really soft too.

I thought it looked like mushrooms. We have morels here that look kinda like that.
My idea was to use it to make basket blocks so maybe subliminally I saw flowers.

JoanneS 05-28-2009 07:21 PM

Hhhhmmmmmmmmm - maybe a candidate for a Stack N Whack? At first I though it looked like whacked off toes of shoes hanging from ribbons - but, nooooo. Can't decide.

Actually, after a bit but before your post, I was thinking about morels as well.

My mind went completely elsewhere, but I love the color, I wonder what sort of kaleidoscope it would make.

pal 05-28-2009 07:54 PM

It looks to me like a bra on a hanger, hanging from a dressmaker's
mannequin.

Turn it the other way...so your "dangles" are up. I'm betting it's a tribal print...it's two people, wearing trible hats in an embrace. I think it would make a fantastic African type wall hanging.

Look at it this way :)

dvseals 05-28-2009 08:08 PM

I can see what you mean jbs :)

jbsstrawberry 05-28-2009 08:20 PM

dvseals, don't you think it would be an awesome African style jar appliqued on a background fabric that resembles a grass mat? With the woven grass style markings in the background I think it would be AWESOME!! add a border with some large airy leaves, some animal print on the next border...a cool sunsetty (new word, like it? LOL) color batiks for the binding... yep...you could make this one awesome piece!!

grannypjb 05-29-2009 10:01 AM

Depending on how much yardage you have, you might use it for a backing. It surely is different.

pal 05-29-2009 10:12 AM

jbsstrawberry - I think you're right. It does look like two people
embracing. It's not ugly - it's beautiful! Kinda puts a whole new
light on it.

Thank you for reminding me to look at things from a different angle.

I found you, and sure it does! <g>
However, I am thinking ... why couldn't you cut it into those 2 1/2 inch squares or even strips ... use it for binding?
put it with an accent color and make half square triangles.
The trick to make it a better accent than distraction is to cut it small enough that the original form is obliterated.
what does it look like if you cut it in strips across what you have pictured, rather than parallel with the design?

I hate to be negative but the fabric looks like it is covered by testicles.

Hi, I can't quite tell the color...black and white? or the size of the print. But I think I would incorporate it into a quilt using blacks, whites and a touch of red.

IMHO

warm quilt hugs, sue

Let's not go there again.

kwhite 06-04-2009 09:52 AM

Oh she went there!!!!. I still have 3/4 of a yard if you want it.

hereca622 06-04-2009 10:06 AM

I agree with strawberry, if you turn it around, it looks like two people embracing. It would make an awesome totebag or purse and if you have some left over, put a large square in a quilt. The totebag would be a great conversation starter. People will ask what it is and you can ask what they see. A variety of answers have been given already. Have fun with it. Now, I want some.

kwhite 06-04-2009 10:10 AM

hereca622 you can have the last 1/2 yard if you would like it.

nellie 06-04-2009 10:22 AM

i would make a purse use it with another color fabric there go , beauitful purse ,tote, or scarpy quilt

Rose Hall 06-04-2009 10:27 AM

could you cut it into strips and use as a border fabric?

Sheree from Chicago 06-04-2009 12:51 PM

I'm thinking armless women with big shoes on. What about paint, application and free motion to turn it into a bunch of wild and wacky women?

mes libby 06-05-2009 05:21 AM

how about a stack and whack quilt it could make a nice quilt you could use any color with it

Sallyjane 06-05-2009 08:47 AM

I think it is a kitchen print. Doesn't it look like canning jar tongs and slotted spoons? I agree with the suggestion of a tote. pillow or even stack and whack. I was also thinking that if you cut it just right you could make it look like those ink blot pictures that psychiatrists use to analyzes their patients!

Whatever you end up doing with it, please post your photos of the finished product. I know that we are all curious to see what you do with it!

hereca622 06-08-2009 08:18 AM

If you are in the US, I would love to exchange a half yard of fabric from my stash. Give me a color, stripes, dots, novelty, etc. We can PM mailing addresses.

kwhite 06-08-2009 08:42 AM

Cool beans I will PM you.

schautzie 06-08-2009 05:20 PM

I would say, if you really like the material, use it for a quilt lining and make it reversible

Kj05 06-08-2009 06:37 PM

I got some of the fabric today. It's really not so bad in person. :D

kwhite 06-08-2009 06:38 PM

Really you like it?? Isn't it soft?
