You made me laugh. I have had that happen to me too. I remember where I left off....and it wasn't. I have learned to right up a sticky or make some note on the pattern. It helps.

My machines are covered with the little post-it notes. If it is something, I REALLY NEED TO REMEMBER, I put it on the pressure foot, when I am done for the night.

It's called "Frog" sewing: rip IT, rip IT, rip IT!

I for one can not sew at night! I make too many mistakes, I am tired and can't seem to think straight.... I do much better in the morning and afternoon..... I seem to think better... at night is when I do my hand sewing etc. binding a quilt or applique.

RELATE! RELATE! RELATE! - :( - :D
so many comments here, like:
wrote a note...made sense when written, made no sense later!
I can't tell you the hours I USED to spend drawing a picture, of something that I had seen, thinking I could make something like it, only to come across all of it down the road and go HUH????
I can't even figure out what this is!
I was doing a fabulous job on a quilt one time and already had one set of borders cut perfectly, but got confused and cut the end off one of the side pieces...no more fabric, nada, zilch, zero...one of a kind!:(
The save was a friend had sent me some fats etc. and there was the perfect piece to put a nice little "design" on the end of two borders, giving it a dash of panache, LOL.
Thank the heavens that it wasn't the outer border either.
It was for someone else and I would have been devastated.
Brain not on a full charge...o. m. gosh, does that ever say it.
It's a good thing we quilters are such an adaptable/creative, willing to punish ourselves, lot!
...just sado-masochistic at times, self-torturers :D:D:D

Hey, don' t feel bad. We all do things without thinking. I decided to make a dresden plate blocks and started to chain piece....well guess what I sewed a hole bunch sewing the small end and not the large end. Whoo....what was I thinking. Lucky I could rip and do it right...

It is such a comfort to know you're not alone! ... Shift+R improves the quality of this image. CTRL+F5 reloads the whole page.

Did it just yesterday with Easy Street. Had the block on the design wall. Took down carefully, pinned, sewed, ironed BOOM....backwards and upside down. Ripped the row out then the block, resewed, ironed and BOOM!! did it again!!!!!

Kind of like that saying carpenters have: "Measure twice, cut once. Measure once, cut twice." Sometimes I can't stop sewing my blocks together because I'm afraid I will forget what I'm doing. I have to stay and sew til they are all together.
