Yet another vote for EQ LOL

I was taught to quilt when I was 9 by my Great Grandma, so quilting helped me in my math classes, I just related everything to blocks! It was even easier in college!

I'm just glad I understand fractions!
I hated math with a passion. My dad could add up long columns of two and three digit numbers in his head and couldn't understand why I couldn't do math (my mother quietly told me I got my math genes from her LOL!!). If I hadn't had a tutor for math in high school, I'd still be there. I also got through university without doind a math course (2 philosophy courses instead). I still shy away from anything that involves adding and substracting numbers. |
When in high school I never could understand why I had to take geometry and when I would ever use it. Well that's because I didn't know I'd end up a quilter and use it all the time.
Recently, my former geometry teacher came into the office and I was able to thank him--he laughed and appreciated my thanks. Says he's asked that question all the time: why do I need to know geometry? |
My husband can figure most problems in his head. My daughter also got my "non" math gene. Good thing the Navy didn't require math for her to learn Farsi. lol

DH thinks I'm the only one that keeps a calculator in the sewing room. I doubt that!

Funny! |
I keep a calculator in my sewing room. I probably could do the calculations without it but why not save time?

Many years after my math teacher retired, I moved to a town close to hers, and found she had become an amazing quilter.
Who knew? I have thought so many times"She should have made me study harder!' fotophun |
a square plus b square equals c square sure comes in handy for those setting triangles.
