The first quilt is always special, even with the wonkiness and mistakes we find later. Just tell yourself it was the way you wanted it! My first was a stack and whack that was with one cotton fabric and one poly. Talk about fun with that stretching(and a color I definitely don't like).

When I first got married I had a slight tendency to hoard things. In particular a big box of clothes. My excuse being that I was going to make a quilt and one day set off. God forbid I take the time to learn a few things. Nope. Dived right in and ended up with what could possibly be the worlds ugliest quilt. I didn't even bind it. Here I am, 10 years later and that thing still keeps people warm. Which in the end is all that matters.

Yes, do finish it. Years down the road you will see how much you have progressed!
|
I say keep on keeping on, besides you haven't learned everything yet lol and what better place to practice. Every quilt is a learning experience for me. I have never made one without mistakes and probably will never, but I keep on keeping on and love almost every moment of it.

Finish it. It will be good practice for all your skills. Binding skills also need perfected and this one is a good place to start.

I agree with granna of 5. Keep on Keeping on is one of my favorite sayings when things get difficult. Just don't give it to the dog.
|
Finish it! You don't know how many here couldn't stand a quilt they were making and once it was done, they liked it.
Take it from someone who knows. |
Every one of you is right! I attached another row last night. I have one more row to attach and then all I will have left is the border. Then of course sandwiching and quilting. I WAS going to send this quilt to stewyscrewy or Charisma for long arming, but I am afraid to send it out now.

Finish it and keep on quilting. Then when you're feeling discouraged about a particular project take it out to show yourself how much progress you've made. I'm just as proud of my first quilt as all the others. What about the pics we have of kids taking their first baby steps. This is your first baby step.

I think everyone feels this way with there first quilt. I'm sure it will turn out better than you think. I always want my quilts to be perfect and my DH is the worst critic. He is always checking my points (I know that is really a good thing-hee hee). Remember this is "supposed" be fun and relaxing!!
Love your avatar - cool blue eye, is it a paint? I've had 9 horses-no blue eyes (at least my huskies do) |
