Well I ordered the kit. It came this past week and I just had a chance to look at it. Oh my! Its all done a a muslin backing and I have to cut templates and all. I'm not ashamed to admit that right now I am more than a little intimidated! The instructions just don't seem real clear either. I guess if you actually KNOW what you're doing they might be. So I'm going to be asking lots of wuestions to get this thing made! I just hope and pray that I can get it done in time for Christmas. Oh and one other thing....it says to prewash all the fabric for shrinkage and fading but if this is a wall hanging and not something to be washed is that necessary?

its the Sunset Heron one...its under the kits section....I tried to psot a direct link but it didn't work for some reason.

If it says to wash the fabric, I would do it.

For kicks, measure the fabric before and after.

It's pretty! I have found that I have better luck sometimes re-writing the directions myself. For instance, if the instructions are all in 1 big paragraph, I re-write to bullets. Or if the cutting instructions are spread out all throughout different sections of the pattern, I make a list. I think it helps me to understand them better if I'm reading a couple of times and re-writing. I'm sure the other quilters out here will give you some helpful advice. Good Luck! :)

well the first thing I have to do is go get some template material. And read up on paper piecing as the border of flying geese calls for it to be paper pieced. I'm wondering though since I know how to do flying geese without paper piecing if i can just do them that way...or is it because they will be small?

Be careful when you wash the muslin I have heard it said on this board that it is prone to shrinking.
Personally I would find some other method of attaching it and leave out the muslin. Could you not transfer the picture on to paper and do it that way.
