Look at the bright side... you could be teaching her worse habits! ;-)

LOL! All these stories really warm my heart! Several years ago I corrupted my BFF. She was suffering from cancer & needed something to occupy her mind. She was just going to make a little lap quilt but y'know how it goes... she took one trip to our LSQ & it was "Katie, bar the door"! She was really very sick but I honestly think quilting kept her alive for a lot longer than anyone thought she would be (her cancer MD was expecting a baby & she wouldn't hear of not making her a quilt!). It was a blessing & a pleasure for me to get to share those times with her & I like to think she watches me now when I quilt!

I haven't as yet corrupted my sis, but she is very supportive, when I go to Indianapolis to visit she always makes sure we visit some quilt shops.

Yesterday was our big day in the sewing basement and my niece completed a twin size quilt made of 8 inch squares of black print alternating with assorted brights. My sister's 2 table topper quilts were LA quilted and bound. My neice really wants me to LA quilt and machine bind her quilt before they leave rather than wait till their next visit so it will be a busy morning. It was a very fun day. Plus, since the sewing room is in my brother's basement and my sis-in-law was out of town, my oldest niece who wasn't sewing cleaned their house! What a nice surprise for my sis-in-law! (There was some bribery involved, but she started in happily before she even knew about that!) Happy day!

I started my DIL sewing three Christmas ago. She wanted some table runners for the holiday. We sewed while Chirstmas dinner was cooking and used them that day. We used my sewing machine for the project. Since that Christmas, she has her own machine and have made several projects on her own. I live in Missouri and she lives in Houston TX, so we do not get together often. They were at my house the last couple of days, and I started my 6 year old granddaughter sewing now. We picked out 100 3" sqares and sewed them together to make a quilt for her. She did a good job. We had some fun together. So, I am guilty of starting the next two generations sewing or quilting. Happy time together.

My mother corrupted me when I was nine and starting 4-H. It was just an older straight line sewing machine, but I gave her a work out! I've sewn ever since, making a variety of things from quilts, bags, a wedding dress for DD, pillowcases and even a cover for a huge pool table! I love to sew and DH spoils me with new little toys every once in a while. I have four daughters and one sews for a living, one sews when she has to, one is just getting into quilting, and one who doesn't know how to thread a machine! They all love what I can do, but have no idea how. Oh well.....there is hope for one....LOL.

I have an older sister who shares my love of quilting and a friend who just last year moved back closer (10 minutes away). We love sewing together and especially shopping. :) What a fun addiction!!

I corrupted my best friend many years ago -- she had never sewn and her idea of quilts consisted of flower fabric. I bought her some fabric and told her to make a quilt -- first we had to buy a sewing machine. Now her stash is bigger than mine and she makes quilts for family Christmas gifts every year. She loves it!!

Whew! This morning we loaded my 11 year old niece's quilt on the longarm and while I quilted, she pieced the top for a matching sham and made a throw pillow. I quilted the sham with the left over batting and backing. It fit right one without having to unload and reload. Got everything machine bound and the pillow sham put together and bound. I'll post pictures later. She was very proud of her new quilt! We finished just as my sister came to pick her up and head back to Michigan. They were here 5 days but the time flew by.

My best friend came to visit me about 12 years ago. I was working on a quilt so I got her to try to make a block for a pot holder. She got hooked--BAD! Today, she is an award winning quilter. She blames me for her fabric addiction and her quilting mania. I just beam in her shadow. I am so proud for her. :o
