I think I am in shock. Talking to my hubby about how the price of cotton is going up a lot. He told me, well if you know it is going to cost more you should stock up. As long as you plan to make more quilts might as well buy before prices go up. I think a trip to the LQS is on the schedule.

babyfireo4 03-15-2011 09:19 AM

I want your hubby! hahah. I told mine I spend 40 bucks at Joann's on clearanced items (cheaper than even 50% off) on things I needed anyway and boy is he having fun giving me a hard time! I think he's working towards some new tools or something ;)

Grama Lehr 03-15-2011 09:42 AM

u lucky girl!!!

BeeNana 03-15-2011 10:45 AM

I'd be out the door. Would he have said that if he really knew all the stash that you have hidden away?.......... :)

cowpie2 03-15-2011 11:26 AM

I am lucky. We actually were talking about what he is stocking up on since we can currently afford it. His view was, it will all get used and will only get more expensive and we might not be able to afford at some point. Which is when I mentioned how quilt fabric is going up. He said if I am sure I will keep makeing quilts I should buy now. I am sure he didn't mean to go nuts, but I will definitely add to my stash.

AngieS 03-15-2011 11:27 AM

YAY!!!

mhansen6 03-15-2011 11:27 AM

Thank goodness my fabric stash is in cupboards with doors on them. If my husband could see my stash he would freak. I know I have way to much.

luvTooQuilt 03-15-2011 11:43 AM

Yay!! Have fun shopping!!! My hubby is an enabler. He loves that I have a hobby I love so much.. I have a nice stash but he always encourages me to get more fabric if I like what I see. No complains here. Now if I can only get him to put his dirty clothes in the laundry hamper instead of the floor.

Mariposa 03-15-2011 11:51 AM

Go and have fun shopping! :)

emerald46 03-15-2011 06:10 PM

Yep, I was kind of cushioning my cc bill this month, by telling him the prices of cotton are going up. His remark was the same..get what you need. Need? Want? I'll stick to my usual plan.

Jennifer22206 03-15-2011 06:28 PM

just so you know fabric.com is having a HUGE sale.. 3.95 and 4.95 a yard. :D

my husband and I are both on strict budget because we have both on unemployment but if i need something for a quilt he finds a way to give me the money because he knows I work hard on the stuff I sell to make some extra money but when we both worked and went to quilt shows he never said no to my buying anything he even half the time picked out the projects he thought I should do. Sure miss having jobs

I have a stash, but who doesn't need more. He gave me $40 for Valentine's Day and said to get some fabric. He's so sweet!

Has anyone read the Shenandoah Series of books by Emilie Richards? It is a set of five books that are all named after quilt blocks and there is an old woman who has an attic full of stash, going way back to the beginning of time, I think!!!!!! And if anyone needs fabric, they can go up in the attic and pick out what they want and can make a quilt with it. I would love a neighbor like that. Very very good books!

They are: Wedding Ring
Endless Chain
Lover's Knot
Sister's Choice
Touching Stars

In that order!!!!!! Just thought I would throw that in. They also are in audiobook form from the library also.

I don't think anyone can have enough stash, providing they look at it once in a while, feel it, and sort of plan ahead what it can be used for. Edie

joyce blint 03-16-2011 08:22 AM

Altho my husb has never commented on my stash, I have a feeling he "notices" it. So every so often when I'm on this Board, I'll show him a pic of someone elses much larger stash, just so he knows how "little" I have. Thanks to everyone for posting those large stashes!!!
