Ideas for Border
1 Attachment(s)
I'm getting close to the end of quilting this UFO and need suggestions for the border.
I was hoping to do feathers, but now that I've pulled it out, I remember that I added that white strip in the border so I'm not sure feathers would look good spread across the three areas. The inner blue border is wider than the outer blue border. Ideas? Watson |
How about a rope twist in the white?
Or more of your circles that you have done in the main part of the quilt? Perhaps stars on the blue star batik? My biggest dilemma is always what to do .... .... and why I have a Christmas quilt sitting, basted but not quilted! :( I can figure out part of it .... but the rest alludes me. And I don't want to start til I have it all figured out, as I have done that before and regretted it. |
Circles for the center white and half feathers on the blue strips seems the answer to me Watson.
|
Maybe ribbon candy down the white section and meandering feathers in the blue borders? Going to be pretty whatever you decide.
|
Why not consider all as one piece and then quilt your feathers or other pattern. I have done this in the past and was happy with the results.
|
I did a border with feathers and made wide areas within the feathers and put circles in those.
|
I'm picturing stars in the blue and straight line channels down the white .

I agree with Trish.

Your quilting so far is very geometric and not fluid and organic like feathers. I would most definitely not put feathers in the border. If this were mine I would treat all 3 strips like a single border unit. In fact I would be sorely tempted to turn the design you used in the setting triangles into squares on point and continue the exact same quilting you have done in those down into the border. Sorry for the bad computer drawing skills but something like this:

I agree with Feline Fanatic!

Me too, I like what Feline Fanatic suggests. I know when I like something but to come up with the design is elusive for me. Good luck with what you decide. I'm sure it will be wonderful. Love what you have done. (would not do feathers).

I
like Feline Fanatic’s idea too! And would love to see the finished product whatever you decide. |
Watson, what I'm seeing is so gorgeous! I love that shade of blue.
Since I'm absolutely no expert on your question I need to pass but couldn't pass on the beauty of this quilt! Can't wait to see it finished. |
