I love the idea of this challenge. I'll have to present it to a guild I belong to. I went to Yahoo and searched for 1 yard quilt challenge images. These 3 were pretty simple and could be adapted to scrappy. Maybe they will help get your creative juices going. All I found were images, so it will be up to you to figure out the pattern...shouldn't be that hard. It sure does help with the design if you know you can add another fabric for some extra color and accent to the originals. I know everyone will love to see what you come up with.

I love the idea of the hst's. There is no end of ways to put those together. Another color that would be fun is lime green - almost any bright color really
|
I would add a red fabric to make it pop!
|
I think heirloom quilters and others have done this last year. Somewhere I did see the end results bu.t can't find them at present.

HHHMMM what if everybody brought the ugliest piece of fabric they could find........
But I love this idea! Black and white and purple? I think it would be fun to audition different colors. I can also see how this could be fun if everybody brought a shirt and cut parts off it. |
have not a clue as to what to do with that many different sizes

Do people stay up at night thinking up these challenges?? WoW! This one is difficult. But, if I were doing this one, I'd use red as my accent color and make log cabin blocks. Put the red in the center and graduate light to dark values as I work my way out. Then, a thin musical border, a red border and larger musical border again.
Can't wait to see what you do with this. How long do you have to get your creation done? And, keep us posted. |
The fabrics would make a beautiful purse/tote. You could use whatever bright color that you want to trim the pockets or/and add some fancy fabric flowers.

That's a good idea, Tartan.

This is a really interesting challenge. Will have to pass it on to my girlfriend for her guild.
