My avatar is 9x12.
No pattern though, it was made by me as I was going along. You can also make a wallhanging of a block (or 4) and add a border around. I love making those, as you can change very easily the colorscheme you want quite inexpensively.
If you want blocks, go to the quilter's cache/blocks galore.

I used this book http://www.amazon.com/Quilters-Dozen-Plus/dp/B000PL1LYI and made each block into a wall hanging. You'll learn applique and paper piecing thu the year and you'll have 12 cute wall hangings for your wall. Each one finishes 16 x 20. I used squares ironed in half on the diagonal and sewn into the top two corners when I put the binding on to hang mine.
