You can find a number of mountain theamed panels at eQuilter, you might have to search but I saw a couple that might work. If you are thinking sunbonnet sue, check out Seams to be Sew. Google “Moon Over the Mountain quilts” to see some beautiful quilts made with this block. Definitely a simple applique pattern. Here’s a link to the free Quilters Cache pattern.

Here’s a cute one where she’s holding an umbrella which you could change to a walking stick. Couldn’t find one with a backpack, but that’s a really great idea. At this point you're probably overwhelmed with ideas! Applique note: I used some fusible web for a baby applique quilt, but I felt it made the quilt stiffer than I would have liked. Next time I would probably just use a temporary bonding spray (505) to hold the pieces down while I machine quilted around them. Or glue, or simply pin them. |
