Me too..I .add batks lots of times for additioinal color pop!
|
I always prewash batiks in hot water before using them. They bleed a lot, I pre washed a red batik with retain and it bled a lot, I ended up washing it three times before it quit bleeding.
|
I think the black will really enhance the blocks. Go for it.

Do you have a pattern name for this quilt? For Ansel

I do that all the time. Here's one I made (still needs to be quilted), only batiks and black solid for sashing and borders.

If you read the comments below there is one from seven years ago that says it was from Craftsy. It is called Stained Glass quilt. It is not a well written pattern, but it gives you the general idea. But I love the colors done in this quilt better than the one by the designer. |

Here are two quilts I made mixing batiks and non-batiks. The prints are all batik, and the solids are not. Edit: Sorry, I didn't realize how old this thread was.

I've done all batiks in a quilt and mixed batiks with cotton prints and plain cotton. I've been lucky with bleeding. That is the best part of quilting, picking the fabric.

I mix batiks and solids/other fabrics all the tine. Never a problem and yes, I do wash my batiks first and seldom get any bleeding of color. As stated by several, the intense colors of batiks can add a pop of color to any quilt. Your choice, your quilt and you get all the glory for making a terrific choice. Mix away.
