QuiltnNan 08-05-2017 07:41 AM

sorry, can't find it

QuiltnNan 08-05-2017 07:42 AM

Welcome from western NY and happy quilting :)

patsan 08-05-2017 07:59 AM

It's very cute! I hope someone can come up with the pattern.

dunster 08-05-2017 08:48 AM

I don't think there's a pattern. This person created it - https://ahhhquilting.blogspot.com/20...4-squares.html

inspired by this quilt - http://www.littlemissshabby.com/2011...cy-quilt-info/

inspired by this free pattern from Moda - http://www.unitednotions.com/fp_natures-notebook.pdf

(And I got there by doing an image search for squares and diamonds)

Good finds Dunster ..........

However, when I zoom in on the quilt in this thread, I don't see any of the seam lines in the diamond sections, that are in the patterns found. It looks like this person took up the challenge, and did a lot of fiddly work to join the pieces at all the odd angles.

It's a great quilt!

You're right. The second person changed the pattern to use inset seams, but still had seams in the diamonds. The last person to make the quilt did it with templates and inset seams, so no seams in the diamonds. It just goes to show that there is more than one way to skin a cat (or make a quilt).

It looks like it would be a good hand-piecing project.

I think it is made of - two shapes - an even sided diamond - 60-120-60-120 degrees - and a square with the same length sides as the diamond.

It could be constructed sort of as a "falling row" - and then the rows joined together. If the pieces are big enough, I think it could be machine sewn. Just have to stop 1/4 inch from the ends.

What? What am I missing? I see seams in the diamonds in both sets of pictures....

WOW! ...... I zoomed in on the picture at the beginning of this thread,
and could not see seams in the diamonds.
Your eyes are certainly better than mine.

I see them now too! (Looked at the close-up picture to see them though.) In that case I would probably paper piece the block to keep it from going wonky.

Really cute quilt, great for scraps. Thanks for the information!

i still can't see them. it would definitely be easier to make that way... can be made in straight rows

Likewise .... nor do I see seams. I spotted some that I thought were seams, but were creases/cumples int he fabric.

Agree the seamed version would be much easier.
However, seams still show IMHO .... comparing two quilts of the two different methods, the one without would be much more showier!

I love this quilt and I don't care if the triangles have a seam because I just downloaded the free quilt pattern from Moda - Nature's Notebook! And I also wanted to give a quick "Howdy" from one Texas_Sue to another Txsue here in the DFW area.

Nice quilt but I have no idea of it's construction. I am sure someone on this board will help you out. Good luck

Complete pattern for the squares and triangles is in the free pattern from Moda (link in post #7 above). Just use framed squares to make the quilt shown.

To those who don't see the seams - I can't see them either in the original post, but in the quilts found online that look like this one, there are seams in the diamonds, and they refer back to the Moda pattern, which is constructed with seams in the diamonds.

I really like this design. Thanks, TxSue, for posting it.

Please with cream and sugar on it!

FUNNY - went thru many variations before finding a user name....including Texas_Sue.
I'm in Arlington

Yes, there are seams in the diamonds. She did this like a framed square within a square, then connected the squares.
