Here's the link to the Bonnie Hunter's Basket Weave quilt pattern:

It's particularly helpful if you want to make this quilt, how to make the setting triangles....

No idea what the name of the pattern is, but I sure do like it. There is one on the Moda Bake Shop very similar, will have to check that one out again.

Thanks. I like the haphazard look of the Bonnie Hunter Basket Weave design. It has a little of the feel of a Victorian crazy quilt with the blocks tipping this way and that, but it's practical. The basket-weave effect isn't very strong because of the random colors, but it has a lot of warmth and appeal.

It's called 'Rail Fence' with the blocks on point. (There's no way I'm going to forget this one.)

There is one called "Off The Rails" on Craftsy and it is free.

Manalto 10-27-2015 04:45 AM

I would think 'Rail Fence' or its variations is simple enough so it doesn't need a pattern. Am I missing something?

Hmmm. Let's try it in the 5-strip version.

I dunno, I don't think it adds much. What do you think?

I don't think it adds much either. Like the ones with more color.

There are a lot of great responses here!

I've decided to make the original quilt in this thread, only the yellow will be replaced by Osnaburg and the white (slightly narrower pieces) will be bleached white muslin. Subtle, understated and perfect for its recipient. (Shhhhhh, all of you in Jackson, Georgia.) I was thinking to make it more interesting the quilting should mostly ignore the rectangular shapes; I'm considering concentric rings, i.e., like ripples in a pond. This will add some much-needed round shapes to the composition, and also echo the idea of water, since it is for a beach house. Too corny?

JustAbitCrazy 10-28-2015 04:53 AM

Not corny at all, Manalto. It sounds just perfect. Would love to see it finished.

Me too. Oh, yeah, I'd better hop to it. I'll post a photo when it's done.
