I printed off the template too - thanks! One question though - do you lay the paper on top of the fabric to cut? How do you keep from cutting into the paper? Sorry if my questions seem so simple...

And what is EQ?

This is 40 1/2 X 46 1/2

The sashing is 1 1/2 inches the corner stones would be 1 1/2 in squares.
First border is 2 inches
2nd border is 2 1/2 inches

You can cut around the templates, or measure and use them as a reference.

EQ is a quilt program that allows you to make "virtual" quilts. It does a lot of the math for you
I can add blocks onto these, change the size of borders, sashings, etc quickly and easily :D

EQ sounds amazing!

Tons of thanks - I printed off that second quilt and made notes on it - it's perfect! :-D :-D :-D

Is the EQ a free program and if so, where would we find it?Or do we need to go to BestBuy or one of those places to buy the CD?

I'm sure learning a lot from all you gals and guys

EQ is not a free program. I just ordered it for $149 from my local quilt store. So many of the folks on here have it and love using it I have convinced that I want the program too. My LQS also offers classes to learn how to use the program. I will be signing up for those!!!

I would not buy a pattern. It's a basic sashed 4-patch. As long as you start with squares that are all the same size and you sew with a relatively even seam allowance, then you can measure your sashing and add it in the same order. It's a great beginner's project. 4-patch is still one of my favorite patterns.

I do not think that there are any free programs out there similar to EQ. There are some that are not as expensive as EQ like Design Wizard...and there is atleast one other but I can't remember the name of it.

I don't think it is available at BestBuy...usually quilt/sewing shops or you can buy it from their website Electric Quilt Company, I have seen them sold on ebay and other sites too :D:D:D

Do a Search here on EQ6 and EQ5 and you will find a lot of information and opinions on both programs :D:D:D
