how many do you think some is? :?: Well, it turned out to be 5 boxes of all kinds of magazines. :!:
Going to divide it between the 8 quilters in our family.

cjomomma 04-17-2011 07:46 PM

Boy oh boy I would not have expected that many. Have fun sorting them out, I know I would. LOL!!

Katy 04-17-2011 07:47 PM

Scary but I see some I recognize there. I have been giving some to others. It is fun to bless new quilters with them.

oldswimmer 04-17-2011 07:48 PM

how fun! Enjoy them....they will be great inspiration.

gramajo 04-17-2011 07:57 PM

Several women where my DD works are quilters. One of them periodically clears out her stash of magazines & gives them to one of the quilters. She tears out any patterns she'd like to keep and then passes them down the line. I'm the end of the line. The last time, I got 2 shopping bags of magazines. There were very few incidences where a pattern I wanted did not have all the pages left. Of course if you all have similiar tastes in quilts, this idea may not work for you.

OneMoreQuilt 04-17-2011 08:09 PM

I hope you have alot of sticky notes to use to mark favorite pages!!! How lucky.

mrsk 04-17-2011 08:17 PM

SCORE!

Painiacs 04-17-2011 08:18 PM

I make copies of the patterns I want. Hate to not be able to pass them on! FYI. If u get mags that smell a lil musty put them in freezer for few days!!

Flying_V_Goddess 04-17-2011 08:22 PM

"Some" is about half a dozen or so in my book.

But that...that's a treasure trove!

normasews 04-17-2011 08:34 PM

Have fun going through them. Looks like you have a nice selection.

BETTY62 04-17-2011 08:38 PM

grammysews4u 04-17-2011 08:58 PM

earthwalker 04-17-2011 09:52 PM

Wow...quilter's heaven! Cups of tea and curled up with quilting mags...what a way to spend an afternoon!

Pickles 04-17-2011 09:53 PM

O my word you really scored didn't you, and to think I only have one quilting magazine to my name that my daughter gave me when I first started quilting I just couldn't afford to go out and buy any more as they cost way to much. Have fun with all your fun magazines :D

sew_southern 04-17-2011 10:00 PM

Oooh, Christmas came early for you!!!! :):)

Demshine 04-17-2011 11:07 PM

Lucky you!

I once answered an ad on craigslist for free quilting magazines - had no idea how many.

Lady gave me her address, and I was amazed that she had 10 grocery bags filled with magazines. All sorted according to date and magazine title. I was one happy camper going through all those (and still have some around). THat was a couple years ago, and have since passed on most of them to others.

Enjoy!

quilt3311 04-18-2011 02:58 AM

What fun, go through and keep what you think you might use and pass the rest out to friends and family. What a windfall.

GirlieWhirlie 04-18-2011 03:04 AM

I love recycling.

We pass our magazines throughout our guild all the time. We have members on fixed incomes that can't afford them and really appreciate it. I would dive into those boxes and not come up for air for a week.

Scakes 04-18-2011 03:24 AM

That's a lot of magazines! Have fun reading through them and picking out patterns to try.

I have fun doing this, too, but my prob. is that I end up taking a few & sitting down & going through them. Then I put them away when I'm tired of it.

msariano 04-18-2011 07:48 AM

I recently posted on craigslist and freecycle that I had a box of Ladies Circle Patchwork Quilts from the 1980's and 1990's and did not get a response until weeks and weeks after. They were in great condition and a-once-in-a-lifetime resource. There has not been another magazine that focused on certain parts of the country in their main articles. Nowadays, I photocopy anything I want to keep our of a magazine because I know that eventually, I'll pass them on--there will always be a newbie around to enjoy them.

doll-lady 04-18-2011 07:56 AM

that's great. you should look at all of them before you split them up. lol

fabrichore 04-18-2011 08:22 AM

holy molie....happy reading...

DA Mayer 04-18-2011 08:22 AM

2 sisters and a niece will be here tonight to look at them. Have orders from DD and we will see what happens. Should be lots of ooh and aahs going on.

I have most of those, i was in the mood to purge this past week and went through a hundred and picked what I wanted and gifted the rest. I have gone years with out tearing out pgs but now that i started it is the way to go, I have started a couple of booklets of ideas and the rest is going out the door. cw

That ought to keep you busy for awhile. I've been lucky to have been given magazines before, but not quite as many as you.
