If someone locked you in your sewing room right now, and wouldnt let you out till you used up all of the fabric you have in there, how many quilts could you make with it? I laid in bed last night, thinking about this, and I think I came up with a scary amount  . What about all of you?

wolph33 10-01-2010 03:48 AM

rotflol,I would die in that room and never finish

KathyAire 10-01-2010 03:52 AM

"If someonelocked you in your sewing room...."

It sounds like it would be a blessing and joy and I would have to thank God for the opportunity.

But, just like Wolph, I would probably die and never finish.

Heh. I know, right?

Like a hundred, except I know I don't have near enough backing or batting for that. SO, 10 finished quilts and 90 quilt tops.

no cooking or cleaning, only sewing, I dare you to lock me up!

sueisallaboutquilts 10-01-2010 04:09 AM

Too funny!!!! I'm right there with the rest of you who commented hahahahaha :D
But to answer your question I'd say about 20 quilts and 300 tops hahaha

zennia 10-01-2010 04:09 AM

I wish
I would be busy and happy for a long time. The thought of having nothing else to do would be so nice.

seamstome 10-01-2010 04:19 AM

15 but it would be fun!

kwhite 10-01-2010 04:23 AM

If I only finished what I have started now and didn't start any more I would still probobly die before I was done.

justwannaquilt 10-01-2010 04:23 AM

LOL It would never happen! My husband and children would first be running around wearing dirty cloths or no clothes at all, and second they would starve to death!

I could get 5!

Honey 10-01-2010 04:33 AM

OMG!! I could probably finish 200 tops without batting an eye. Then I would have to go out to replenish thread and other essentials, like chocolate.

Me too! But I would sure enjoy trying to get it all done.

Well, I wouldn't die, but I'd get very, vey hungry!

quilter41 10-01-2010 05:42 AM

I would be buried in quilts. My cup would overflow, rather room.

Terryl 10-01-2010 05:48 AM

I honestly don't know, I didn't realize I had as much fabric as I do until I moved (in August) I still don't have it all unpacked and put away. I'm sure I would be in there at least a couple of years :) :) twice as long if I have to do much frog stitching LOL LOL

Well, I have ideas in my head for at least 10, fabric for many more than that. But I have apparel fabric as well, home dec fabric, crochet thread, yarn. I would never get out.

I agree!!!!

bearisgray 10-01-2010 06:01 AM

Does "sewing room" include ALL the places where fabric and supplies are stashed???

Well, if a port-a-pot and water were also available - - - -

DA Mayer 10-01-2010 06:28 AM

ok would they move my quilt books from the hallway into the room too? And would they throw thread into the room every so often? I think I could make a roomful of quilts- that would be nice for a while anyway.

wvdek 10-01-2010 06:32 AM

Hmmm, interesting dilemma.
I guess I have enough fabric for maybe 30-50 quilts. Ok, maybe more, I don't know! Of course that depends on the size, but I will go with middle-of-the-road queen size. However, I do not have enough batting otherwise I have everything else. I have batting enough for maybe three queen size and two baby quilts.

quilterjody 10-01-2010 06:46 AM

I'd get a lot of tops done, but no actual quilts. I buy batting and backing as I get ready to finish a project. I don't have enough room to store batting.

quiltlady37 10-01-2010 07:04 AM

Could I go across the hall to another room. I also have fabric in that bedroom? LOL

Kherrin 10-01-2010 07:08 AM

Way more that I could ever use in my lifetime! I would not even venture a guess as to the yardage I have put away in my sewing room...the really sad part is no one in my family will ever use all I leave when I depart this world.

Sounds to me like we had all better hurry out and stock up on batting and thread before they lock the door on us. Oh....I had better get more wine too.....and......

cjk 10-01-2010 07:09 AM

well this is sad.... but if you locked me in my sewing room it wouldn't take me long. i have enough for about 2 quilts... just started trying to build a stash. But hey, I went to Joanns yesterday and walked away with just 2 spools of thread. The lady at the checkout ask me if I closed my eyes when I walked through the store! LOL

Riversong 10-01-2010 07:18 AM

Depends on the size. But in full size, probably 4.

Robinlee 10-01-2010 07:21 AM

I would be in heaven...........probably atleast 100 tops done and 4-5 completed. and as long as there is chocolate and other food stuff. I would make it, my DH on the other hand would probably starve...........and wouldn't know what to do without me. He would continue "KNOCKING" on the door till I broke down and came out just to satisfy his needs, all of them!

azdesertrat 10-01-2010 07:30 AM

PLease do! I agree with alot of others here,i would die there and never be done

Me too! And I'm glad to have that much.

Navy Wife 10-01-2010 07:35 AM

I could do at least 100 tops. But I need plenty of wine, chocolate, food and water, and a TV and DVD player!

Mary M 10-01-2010 07:47 AM

Since I have the whole house to myself andI don't go out often [well to get more faric or notions] I don't need to be locked up to do my quilting. I will say even at the rate I go I still won't use up all my fabric before I die. I should stop buying but there is always another pretty, or interesting fabric to be bought. I love to piece tops just haven't gotten the quilting part down other than some FMQ. I am so glad I have this hobby.

Chasing Hawk 10-01-2010 07:54 AM

I would be skinny when I emerged......LOL

I could easily make about 100 tops alone. In my closet I have enough batting to make one quilt start to finish. I would have to have someone slide the rest of the batting under the door, since I keep it in another closet.

MadQuilter 10-01-2010 07:59 AM

I would have turned into a skeleton long before all of my fabric is used up.

Ditto!!!!!!!!!!

I just hope they left me with a bucket or something or I would end up having to use some of the fabric for diapers on myself.

Quiltforme 10-01-2010 08:04 AM

Wow would someone please lock me in my sewing room PLEASE. He he I love my family but man do you realize how much work we would get done!!! I could honestly say maybe 50+ tops.

I second that emotion ... but wouldn't complain. Since I, too, have the whole house to myself (BIG house ... I raised 3 kids here), it would take me TWO lifetimes to use all this fabric, batting, thread, etc. But ... it sure would be a nice way to live a second life!

I have something fabric related in EVERY room in the house, including the bathrooms because those quilting books and magazines sure make good reading material!

littlehud 10-01-2010 08:23 AM

I have a roll of warm and natural in the sewing room so quite a few quilts and lots of tops.

wolph33 10-01-2010 08:33 AM

ya it would be great fun-no housework-no paying bills, etc

Same here. It would be hundreds of quilts and decades. I would never use it all up. However, that doesn't stop me from buying more fabrics when it calls my name!!!

quiltingaz 10-01-2010 08:45 AM

I don'tknow how many. I don't have that many fingers and toes! LOL
