I'm with you. A few yards of each piece in the store. Oh, I may need a portable bldg. to store it all in.

The one thing I absolutely demand of a quilt shop is friendly, helpful sales clerks. Not the kind who hover and shadow every step, but are there when needed. Also, when I walk in to any store, I expect to be acknowledged, if only with a glance and a smile.

all the fabric and notions i could fit in one cart

All of the display quilts hanging on the walls and draped over the beds and other display racks.

Have always had trouble making up my mind. I want it all! I don't want to be greedy, but...... if they offer.

ForestHobbit 06-03-2010 10:52 PM

I am with JanetM . . . I want all the fabric!

I think that describes what I'm doing today.....have the day off and am going to the annual BIG sale at Keepsake Quilting, which is about 45 minutes from me. You can get premium fabric for Jo-Anne prices or less, and it's so much fun. People start arriving the night before and sleep in their cars in the parking lot in order to be one of the first in line. There won't be a van to take it home in, but there will be a tractor trailer in the parking lot, and they'll auction off fabric from the back of it! I'm emptying out my trunk, just in case!

Id like 5 minutes to put what I could in the cart! Remember how grocery stores used to have giveaways like that? Oh the things I would get!

smagruder 06-05-2010 03:15 AM

free quilting lessons for LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Betty Ruth 06-05-2010 07:11 PM

Like the others, I'd want the whole store, even though there would be quite a few things for which I'd have absolutely no use. Our local quilt store is Hancock fabrics, and they carry quite a few things that have nothing to do with quilting.

I hope you've put your batik order in at [email protected]. Did you see I finally posted my pricing, shipping, etc. info? It's in the classified section called "The Batik Information You've Been Waiting For".

Prices that are more affordable. $9.00 plus a yard is getting outragous.
Being able to use a Longarm

If you think $9./yd. is outrageous, try shopping in Canada. Fabric here is often $14. or $15. and sometimes as much as $19. /yd. We do a lot of cross border fabric buying.
