Batting and kona cotton. You'll know you'll need it eventually. And then treat yourelf to something you don't need, like a book.

ontheriver 09-14-2011 05:45 AM

I would get batting since I use so much.

Bug Lady 09-14-2011 05:53 AM

Hmmm...Kona solids. Have fun.

charity-crafter 09-14-2011 06:19 AM

I'd get rolls of a good quality black fabric-like Kona and a cream/beigey for applique and a several yards or (a roll if possible) of those nice multi-shade fabrics- batik like in my favorite colors.

A roll of batting, and a roll of 90" wide backing fabric in a nice multi-color active design so my quiting isn't as noticeable.

peaceandjoy 09-14-2011 06:48 AM

I never use solids, so that wouldn't be it. Have most of the notions that I want...

For that amount of money wholesale, could I get any sewing furniture? I don't really know. If not, I'd go with batting and try to figure out where to put it. Normally I buy it 8 or 10 yds at a time when it's 50% off @ Joanns.

catmcclure 09-14-2011 06:49 AM

Wholesale - $200 will go a long way. There are some warehouses that sell "seconds" for $1 a yard. These are fabrics that may have one spot on the selvage area halfway through the bolt. If you can do so, wait until the week AFTER the Houston show. That's when the discontinued fabrics go on sale big time.

Quilt-Till-U-Wilt 09-14-2011 06:53 AM

"I never use solids"...

That's interesting. What do you use for backgrounds?

MS quilter 09-14-2011 07:02 AM

batting

QuiltnLady1 09-14-2011 07:02 AM

I would get batting first. Then a piece of fabric that lights my fire (at least 3 yards). I like blenders -- as opposed to solids - so I would try for moda marbles and the like.

I would give your friend a big hug (and maybe make a special quilt) for giving you such a great opportunity.

clsurz 09-14-2011 07:33 AM

I love to buy at 50% retail or less or wholesale and often do.

Right now I think I would add to my thread collection for embroidery, quilting, and sewing.

I have plenty of fabric right now ..... actually 4 bookshelves with 5 shelves each on them and full to the brim and still have some laying around because I ran out of space to put on the shelves.

I already have a roll of 25 or is it 40 yards of heat n bond....as well as a roll or warm n natural 45" wide and 40 yards of it.... and have enough threads but not all I want. I am lacking in that area compared to what else I have.

Selena 09-14-2011 10:06 AM

I would buy a roll of batting and 108" wide backing fabric, and some thread, and some quilting fabric, and........

vivoaks 09-14-2011 10:26 AM

I'd definitely get batting first, and I'd go for a whole bolt of a basic fabric - black or white, whatever you use the most of. Stock up on the basics that you use all the time... just my opinion - it's really up to you! Have fun with it!!!

roadrunr 09-14-2011 11:12 AM

I'd buy w roll of batting.

Stitchalong 09-14-2011 12:02 PM

I would buy a roll of batting.

maryellen2u 09-14-2011 12:32 PM

For me right now I would love a new big cutting mat. I don't have room to store batting but I love the Kona fabrics. I use lots of white flannel for table runners and purses so I might buy a bolt of that. I really can't imagine using a bolt of one fine print but who knows. When love strikes...With the cost of blades, scissors etc. I doubt it would take long to reach the $200.00 mark. Maybe in my fantasy here I've spent it already. Good luck to you! Have fun!

carolynjo 09-14-2011 12:33 PM

Definitely batting and wide backings. I never seem to have on hand what I need when I need it, so a stash of these two items would be lovely. May you be pleased with your decision.

valsma 09-14-2011 12:35 PM

I would go for the batting. It is so costly and getting a roll at cost would save a bit.

charhend 09-14-2011 01:02 PM

I woulde buy a Gammal quilting machine that is computerized.

gingergrandma 09-14-2011 01:18 PM

I would by a yard each of all the colors of the stonehenge fabric.

Eileen 09-14-2011 01:29 PM

Since we are all dreaming, I think that I would buy a Koala sewing cabnet. The table that my sewing machine is on does not extend. I think that I would also get a long arm quilting machine that has all the bells and whistles and frame for it.

JanieH 09-14-2011 01:31 PM

Batting and backings would be my picks.

scrappy happy 09-14-2011 03:49 PM

I would buy things that last , Things like quilting tools. That way I would always have them. If you buy fabric or batting when u use it up its gone and u have nothing to show for your money.

OneMoreQuilt 09-14-2011 03:51 PM

Something outside of the normal purchase you would make.

ghquilter53 09-14-2011 03:53 PM

Since I can get batting at Joann's at half price...which is just like wholesale I think I would stock up on just about every color of thread because I do alot of blanket stitching, 2 new rotary cutters with lots of extra blades, a couple of boxes of steam a seam lite, the $50 little light that can attach to your machine, a couple more pairs of scissors, and with whatever money I had left would go toward 1/3 yard cuts for my stash. Right now I am low on pinks and blacks and always need more 30's. This has been fun...

wordpaintervs 09-14-2011 07:16 PM

I'd get a quilt kit for an easy to make Celtic quilt for a grand daughter that is patiently waiting for me to make her one

Stitchit123 09-14-2011 07:45 PM

For me it would be the largest mat they make and batting-I have enough stash to last a couple life times Any thing else can be squeezed into any budget

KathyKat 09-15-2011 05:47 AM

I would buy a nice sewing machine table so my machine's bed would be level with table. It would include some storage cabinetry and have a hinged table extension in the back.

GJoyce 09-15-2011 08:11 AM

OK RST, At my age I try VERY hard to resist these temptations. I know that as soon as I give in and make an order there will be another one around the corner. If you have lots of stuff don't be tempted to add to that stash you wonder when you will ever use. I'm learning with the added years I get. LOL

Well, I will start by appoligizing first!! I don't know if I'm allowed to mention this product, if I'm not, I'm really sorry and I won't do it again:-D, but here goes. I would buy me some more cutting dies for my Accuquilt Go, and of course fabric, fabric, fabric!! Happy shopping!!
If I wasn't supposed to mention that product, Please let me know. Thank You.....

ging10ging 09-15-2011 06:03 PM

i think the batting unless you have a special fabric you want. sue

penski 09-15-2011 08:38 PM

wow i would be just as confused as you are , i think i would go with the most exspensive thing and what would cost the most in shipping

kwhite 09-15-2011 08:39 PM

Best Press!

natalieg 09-15-2011 08:43 PM

I would focus on batting or fabric only because of the weight and free shipping.

So what would you stock up on? A roll of batting? A full bolt of fabric? Would you buy versatile solids (Kona snow or cream, jet black, ash? ) Or would you buy a whole bolt of a fabulous print? Threads?

I'm enjoying the idea, but when it comes right down to committing to a big order, I find myself stalling. Inspire me, please.
RST

i have plenty of fabric but I can always use batting so I would buy a roll of cotton/wool batting and store it under the spare bed while I finish with what I have the start on the new roll. It is not easy for my to buy rolls of batting as they can be expensive to but and harder to store out of the way. Especially if I have visitors all the time.

MissJMac 09-23-2011 11:32 PM

I'd buy tools I lust after that rarely go on sale, like; specialty rulers/templates, rotating mat, books, etc. I'd also stock up on African Fabric which is rarely on sale.
I notice many of you would buy batting. In my area, batting is frequently on sale (50%)and I always wait for the sale.

drgranny 09-24-2011 02:00 PM

At wholesale with no shipping I would buy a new Cadillac. I already have plenty of quilting supplies.

charity-crafter 09-26-2011 04:07 AM

What did you decide to order?

I know how hard it is to make a big purchase just because it's a good deal. It's hard to do the final step and actually buy.

romanojg 09-26-2011 04:40 AM

I'd buy the things that normally would cost me the most and that I'd use alot of. Eventually what ever you buy you'll have to restock so get as much of a deal as possible now.
