... how many should you buy? Assuming that you don't actually have a project in mind, at the time.

Can you do much with just one pack? Or should you buy two, if you love the collection? Or should you buy a jelly roll to go with it?

Or do you just buy a charm pack so that you can take it out from time to time and play with the squares? (Let's be honest... charm packs make GREAT toys for quilters!)

If you love it, you'll need at least 2-3 to use for a quilt...plus you may want a larger amount of a coordinate or two...:)

I usually buy at least 2 charm packs. But I have found that I need at least 4 to make a quilt. I have also fallen in love with the layer cakes and am starting to collect them also. There are a couple of wonderful books on using jelly rolls and layer cakes to make beautiful quilts.

I make lap quilts .It depends on how many charms are in a pack . Some packs are much smaller than others. I try to buy ones with over 30 and on sale. Usually it take 3 or more packs plus some matching fabrics.

Depends what you want to do w/ them.. look around before you buy unless you find a bargain. u suggest at least 4 or more and get some yardage if possible.

Ditto....2 to 3 charm packs and some coordinates make a lovely large quilt.

I buy the layer cake (as long as it is cheaper than buying four charm packs).

You can cut the layer cake into quarters and get four "charm packs" out of it!

I buy as much as I think I'll need and then some. I don't have to buy Pampers, school lunches, or college books any more so now I can spend for me.
