Yes, you heard me....I'm 59 yrs old and expecting!!!  Oh, okay -- I'll explain! A friend of mine has a brand new computerized quilting machine ---- wanna guess where the old one is going??? YIP!!! YEAAAAAH They're selling me the old one at about 1/3 the cost!!! I'll be getting the Pfaff 1200 Grand Quilter with the Gracie Frame. If I decide I don't like it, they'll take it back! (yeah, right!) I'm so excited I can hardly stand it!!!! They'll bring it over, put it up, and train me over a 2 day period. All I have to do is cook meals!!!

Anyone here have that set-up? How do you like it??

BellaBoo 08-28-2009 09:49 AM

That's so nice! :D I know you are excited!

mytwopals 08-28-2009 09:56 AM

I have the same setup. It works very well. It's so nice, not to have to pin baste your quilts. If it comes with plastic wheels on the carriages, there is a metal wheel replacement you can get. The metal wheels roll much nicer. The metal wheels cost me somewhere around $60 for all 8 wheels. They're considered a must, if you computerize and they make for more precise quilting. I computerized my setup with Qbot a few months ago. My only complaint would be the lack of throat space. When I can save the necessary funds, I'll switch to the 18" machine and frame. That way, I'll be able to quilt an entire 12" block at one time.

It was about $3,700 for the Qbot, including the software and metal wheels. If you are getting the original Gracie Next Generation frame, there is nothing additional to purchase. The newer frames require some additional parts to adapt Qbot to those frames. I'm assuming you are getting the Cruise Control (Stitch Regulator) module with the machine and frame. Otherwise, it'll be about $500 more for that. The Cruise Control was included with my original frame/machine purchase.

amandasgramma 08-28-2009 12:09 PM

$3700!!!!! Well, it'll be a while before I buy that!!!! I'm not sure of all the details on the machine and frame yet. Dear friend is letting me use it and will train me Sunday and Monday....will remain to be seen if it's what I want....

amma 08-28-2009 01:09 PM

How exciting for you!!!! And to get two days worth of trainging for meals is soooo generous of them too!!! :D :D :D

Mousie 08-28-2009 01:34 PM

well, I guess you'll be a foster parent until you decide, huh? But, you won't be able to pass up a good thing, and will end up in love and keep it!
Good for you, no pains, and no midnight feedings! well, not unless you want to! :D

Esqmommy 08-28-2009 01:37 PM

Shadow Dancer 08-28-2009 04:13 PM

Woohoo!! Congratulations!! :)

I have the Pfaff Grand Quilter 1200, it's sitting in my sewing room patiently waiting for me to introduce myself to it. I got it on Aug. 18th, and got it unpacked and since then I've been painting and renovating. I hear it calling my name! lol

I don't have the frame...yet, but I'll be adding it sometime in the future.

Have fun with your new baby. :)

sewjoyce 08-28-2009 04:21 PM

what a bargain! I've had my gracie frame for almost a year adn it STILL is not up and running...so that is AWESOME that you have someone coming to set it up for you and train you on it!

MadQuilter 08-30-2009 08:29 PM

That is fabulous. A baby that eats string and fabric and only needs the bobbins changed.

I am SO envious of you! This is on my wishlist. May you and your new "child" have many happy hours together!!

Quilt4u 08-31-2009 01:52 AM

Congrats on your new set up.

CindyBee 08-31-2009 03:16 AM

Congratulations! How exciting and wonderful that is! We definitely need to see some pics of the new baby :D

Bevanger 08-31-2009 04:30 AM

Way Cool. How exciting for you. :D

mimisharon 08-31-2009 04:46 AM

How wonderful! I can't find anything near that good a deal around here.

I showed my son Jim, the quilting frame and machine I'd like (IF I had a house big enough) while he was here in June. He could not believe how much they cost. He wants to find me a good used parachute sewing machine to quilt with. He said they are work horses, but the frame....he is head of the shop so he knows machines but he doesn't know quilting except that he gets them from mom. lol

Have fun and take lots of pictures for us!

Hugs,
Sharon

quite awhile ago it was $250 to convert my carriage to a bigger machine. Right now I use a juki 98QE and it sits empty quite a bit so don't think I will upgrade anytime soon unless my DD wants to invest.

tuesy 08-31-2009 06:04 AM

YAY!! I am so happy for you!!!

Harmony 08-31-2009 06:23 AM

While I'm very happy for you, I'll admit that I am insanely jealous. There, I've said it! Now, you know that we will expect pics of not only your new baby, but of your first project, so get crackin', girl, you have work to do!

Esqmommy 08-31-2009 06:43 AM

Was there a delivery???? Did you need an epidural?

Debra Mc 08-31-2009 02:31 PM

You heifer! I want that so bad I can taste it. Was gonna get that one but I'm saving for the Pinnacle (grace) that my Babylock will fit on. I have tried it out in the store. It is super. It will take some practice as it can get away from you. It sews very nice. I have never owned a Pfaff but hear they are good machines. Can't wait to see what you do with it. Keep us posted. Deb

nellie 08-31-2009 05:38 PM

lucky you i wish i had a friend like that  about the cooking i think i would take them out so i won,t have to wash dishes

amandasgramma 08-31-2009 07:20 PM

WOW!!!! No epidural folks, BUT, I'm resting -- I think new mother's need 3 days rest at least! GADS, I'm tired! We put it up -- took only three hours -- ONLY three hours. That baby is NEVER coming down! Yes, I've played/practiced on two "quilts"...one about a lap quilt size and the other about full size bed. My friend brought the fabric....had found it for $.50 a yard!!!!! Now that I'm on my own, I'm able to really practice....and I can see it's going to take time! Unfortunately (this isn't nice)...we're having company over all week!!!!! no overnighters, but one night is the neighborhood barbecue at our house!!!! Guess I'd better clean the house, cuz it's supposed to rain!!! Oh.....DH was such a doll. Even though he wasn't feeling well, he helped cook AND did dishes!!!!!! Gotta love a man that will do that!

PS -- pictures of the set-up will come tomorrow.....pics of a new quilt.......maybe next month!!! LOL

dlf0122quilting 09-03-2009 07:14 AM

Boy, do you have a wonderful friend or what. Congratulations. If I had room in my house, I might consider a long arm but that would mean hubby would have to move out, hmmmmmmmmm!!
