HOWWDEEE!
I am Omak <wave> and, I did get to meet Miss Dunster and hubby and I even had dinner with her! It was fun to meet someone online and to have them get something so exciting as a longarm ... well, that was just plain exciting! On the day that she headed back to her home, I arrived at the LQS just in time to give her a hug goodbye and send her off with a wave and a "Be safe" ... from her quietness at the moment, I am guessing that she is having some fun time getting everything warmed up. The Innova is one of the most affordable long arms on the market in my humble opinion - - and, no, I do not own one. It was just a bit beyond what I was willing to pay and I didn't think I would ever get good enough to warrant the "big girls" machine - - silly me! I quickly outgrew my Babylock Quilter Pro on the Pinnacle frame ... and, now I am saving for the bigger machine. Everyone is wise to save for the biggest they can get. Once you start doing quilting with your portable home machine, you will find that you are on your way to the "big time" ... do not doubt your ability or your ability to grow into professional in just a few easy projects. I will now sit quietly in the gallery and wait for Miss Dunster to report on her new "tool"! <wave> |
Oh, such fun to meet another board member! I've met some from another forum. I bet dunster is having brain overload about now with her new toy.
|
I'm looking forward to hearing from her too. As I live only 30 miles away, I'm wondering when she will be open for business? I pieced a top this summer at a class Jean Wells' taught and and want to display it at the art show in 2010.

AMMA - what exit? UH! maybe we should let her know we are coming???? wink wink teehee

No, I haven't forgotten my friends on the board, and I promise I will post pictures soon. The longarm is mostly put together now. We still have to tape one of the leaders down, but DH is tired and his back hurts so I will have to be patient. <sigh> We had to buy a longer bolt and more washers to get the stitch regulator riding on the rail correctly, and had quite a few perplexed moments trying to decide what went where, but overall things are going well. Oh, we haven't tackled the light bar yet, or the micro handles, but those can wait...
I would love to see any of you that can make the trip to Albany. I'll even let you play on my new toy. More soon... |
Why oh why can't it be Albany NY instead of Albany OR. :) (I bet Albany OR is a lot prettier than Albany NY!) Wow you got all the bells and whistles on that baby. The light bar and micro handles were extras in the package I looked at. I will be interested to hear what you think of how the batting just kind of hangs under the rack. I was thinking if I got this machine I would figure out a way to put a roller on for the batting. Can't wait to hear your report.

Hope you mean that. Email when you are ready.

Ok, as promised here is a picture of the Innova, taking up most of the space in our family room. Fortunately we have another "bonus" room upstairs that we use for watching TV, etc., because I don't think there's space left in this room for anyone to see the TV. (Quilting is more important anyway, don't you think?)
It did take a while to get it all set up, but mostly that was because we were busy with other things that had to get done. We have to wait for a replacement piece for the top of the light bar, so you will see part of it on the floor under the machine. (The top piece was too short, not sure how that happened.) I haven't done much practice yet, but I did verify that I can load the quilt sandwich, wind the bobbin (the bobbin winder is the green thing on the table at the far end of the room), thread the machine, adjust the tension, and do some stitching. The classes at Fabric Patch in Ephrata were wonderful. Cindi, the owner, is a very talented teacher and quilter. I enjoyed meeting Charismah, Omak, and dglvr while I was there. Now that I have the machine, I'm looking forward to meeting Sparky, who lives nearby in Salem, and anyone else who wants to come visit. While getting training, I stayed at the Notaras Lodge in Soap Lake, about 10 minutes from Ephrata. If you're ever out that way, the Notaras Lodge is a very comfortable and interesting place. The rooms are all different, and the buildings are made from logs. http://www.notaraslodge.com/ We are leaving tomorrow (Thursday 12/10) for about 10 days to visit the kids in southern CA so I won't be getting any practice on my Innova until we get back. I have 4 tops ready to quilt (1 is for Quilts for Kids) but I need some practice first! Thank you, everyone, for your support. It's so nice to have friends who are so encouraging and helpful. Innova almost all set up |
That is so cool!!! I hope you have a great time practicing on your new toy!!! I want one too!!!
