Well technically Im half done---piecing my Bali Wedding Star that is. After making a critical error that meant I had to re-do 288 couplings, which resulted in many, many tears and more nasty words than are in a dictionary, Im back at it.

I started this in May. Then I sat out for about three or four weeks after the mistake. Right now, I figure I have 125 hours into it.

As soon as I get to a point where a "square" is recognizable I will post a picture. According to my plan, that should be early next week. I wanted to have this to the LA by about Labor Day.

Just for a reference, I think I figured this King has about 3000 individual pieces.

Ohhh how sad. I have a deal with any quilt I start. It doesn't matter how good I think I am or how well informed or how familiar I am with the techinque. I always make one or two block first...so if a mistakes happens, I can nip it in bud right then and there.

It was actually a problem in the directions IMHO. I have made several of Judy Niemeyer's patterns before and never had a problem. I have made four curved quilts and never had a problem.

I came to a point in the directions where it said to trim the piece BEFORE you put everything together....at the time, I thought to myself, "Self, this isnt the way I would do this but she must have a reason!" Nope! Maybe a better quilter than I could have made the thing come out square but I dont think so easily because I took it to my LQS to ask them what to do and they said "What a shame! Why would you trim it before you sewed all those curves, you knew you were working with a bias."

The good news is that I have all of the parts that are wrong and I think I can make a set of coordinating pillow sham with them.
