I am also a longarmer and never trim quilts unless I am putting on the binding for this very reason also.

I have had a few quilts done by a long arm quilter, she always leaves the quilt for me to trim.

I would still be crying.

do you have a photo?

Trolly, I'm thinking I'll be going forward with a variation on piping, thank you for the idea. The reverse scallops would upscale the quilt, but my eyes have a real problem with this sort of work now.
What I have laid out on the floor this morning is a wide flange (using the already cut binding) which will cover the last row. Although I hate to lose the chained border effect.
and making a deep neutral border which will compliment the inner neutral borders.

It is working in my mind's eye :) and today I have time to do some test driving.

I would be so disappointed. What was she thinking! So sorry this happened to you.

I would ask them not to trim off any fabric from now on. It is a sad thing to happen but not much you can do about it now but I would talk to the quilter.

Are you sure she didn't have someone in the store helping her or in training? You really do need to let her know so it doesn't happen to the next person. It's a lovely quilt. Can you fake it with some rick rac or something?
