Darn, I thought I'd had a great idea when I came up with it. All you have to do is twist one long end before sewing them together. Finish your seam so that it looks good from both sides because both sides may show.
Another idea: I stitched a loop on one end then slipped the opposite end through it before sewing. It was a little more confusing but looks better and adds to the intrigue of the scarf. I am looking for a pattern to sew. There are quite a few knit and crochet patterns out there.
