I have this machine and I love it. Yes you should get it cleaned and tuned. my dealer told me that this machine was made for only a short time. It was meant to be the Bernina workhorse but the materials for this machine cost to much to be able to be sold for a reasonable price. He told me it has 32 different materials in it. I love mine. It cost me $79 to get it serviced. Worth every penny!!! P.S. I had to buy mine.

I would recommend joining the Yahoo group "Bernina Thirty somethings". I have learned a great deal from the people there and have found needed parts and feet.
Definately get it serviced, but make sure that its by a Bernina dealer, Berninas sometimes require special tools that only Bernina dealers have. Also make sure that your technican knows the older machines.
