I would. That is a great machine. I have that one and never had to have anything done to it in 19 years. You will enjoy it.

The Bernina 930 is a wonderful machine. It'll sew things better than your Brother machine. There are two 930's at my house; both me and my daughter own one. She makes all sorts of costumes and other clothing for herself and dh and is pleased with how well it sews. You can still get feet and bobbins for the 930. You may be able to locate a power cord from a Bernina dealer or on Ebay.
I would recommend joining the Yahoo group "Bernina Thirty somethings". I have learned a great deal from the people there and have found needed parts and feet. Definately get it serviced, but make sure that its by a Bernina dealer, Berninas sometimes require special tools that only Bernina dealers have. Also make sure that your technican knows the older machines. Sharon W. |

My question: Would you invest the money to have this machine looked at, cleaned, etc., and use it? I have a great little Brother LB6770 embroidery machine that's been great but I can tell the Berninia is much more solid. Let me know your thoughts, I need to purchase a walking foot, 1/4"foot, bobbins, etc. I have this machine and I love it. Yes you should get it cleaned and tuned. my dealer told me that this machine was made for only a short time. It was meant to be the Bernina workhorse but the materials for this machine cost to much to be able to be sold for a reasonable price. He told me it has 32 different materials in it. I love mine. It cost me $79 to get it serviced. Worth every penny!!! P.S. I had to buy mine. Thanks! |
Also, get the other throat plate for it. The one that is not zig-zag.

Yes it is worth it.

Love Berninas:)

I am happy to say that today I found the power cord, box of presser feet, and the users manual. Bless her heart! I can't wait to get this machine serviced and start using it. Thanks everyone for all your great advice and information. I love this board.

I just got Bernina 930 from an estate sale for $25! There's no owner's manual or any accessories, no extra power feet, no bobbins or tools. I'm starting from scratch. I haven't even tried it out yet, kind of afraid to without a manual to walk me through the process.
To a anyone who might know, would a knee lift for the 830 fit the 930? There's one on Ebay that I would love to get. Thanks! |

Thanks,
I'm disabled, so my machine is my therapy. I bought it with my first Social Security Check. It was well worth the price. Allen |
